Starting TRT- Reservations

Forget about your nipples and AI’s. If you didn’t know that was a possible symptom I guarantee you wouldn’t be noticing it right now

It will be fine in a few weeks. Just let it ride.

I never did well on SQ, I tried it one day and that was enough for me.

Ok so I’m 8 days in.

1st shot- within 5 hours my libido was up.

Woke up the next day with morning wood like I’ve not had in 10 years. Libido libido, energy and happy.

By midweek and second shot I’d still got more energy and was happier- but morning wood stopped.

I’ve definitely had some nipple tenderness etc.

Shot yesterday midday. Felt nothing from it.

Woke up this morning feeling depressed.

Pretty limp down there and I’ve got no libido.

Is this a sign I’m a high aromatase type guy? I’d had problems with high SHBH and high estrogen in the last year and free test was v low with normal total test.

Aghhhh- I know this is gonna be a journey but losing the libido and morning wood after they were suddenly back is annoying!

I’d ride it out… I had swollen ankles and hands, etc. for the first few weeks. Most people will normalize after a few more weeks. I wouldn’t worry about it just yet.

@roadie

It’s a sign that you are less than 6-8 weeks on a protocol. Expect things not to be perfect for a while.

This is a sign your natural production is shut down, before you had the naturally produce testosterone and the exogenous testosterone where now you only have the exogenous testosterone and now must wait it out until levels are stable and your body starts adapting.

How long this take is different for everyone, usually 6-8 weeks (average), some take even longer.

Thank you guys! Really appreciate all the responses.

Kind of need psychological help from groups like this as you start a journey like this!

I’m feeling happier this morning, I’ve definitely got more energy and I’m not falling asleep and yawning all the time either.

Just need my libido back now and nips to stop itching and I’ll be a happy man!

Could you post your full pre TRT labs, and personal stats?

Age, weight, height, BF%, daily routine, and current diet? Alcohol and/or drug use (recreational or prescription)?

You’re asking a lot of questions and are going to get a few very well educated opinions (the guys responding here have been through the shit and know what they are talking about), but nobody will be able to fully help you unless we know some things about YOU, and not just that you feel like shit and are taking Test E at 125mg split into 2 injections per week.

We have all been where you are so don’t feel like you are in a new cave without a flash light (torch or lamp for you UK guys lol). You are 8 days in man so sit back and force yourself to calm down. Your body will go through enough changes all by itself with testosterone, no need to add the extra burden of your mind creating 100 new symptoms on top of that if you can help it.

TRT, once properly dialed in, will bring your hormones back to balance but this is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to healing your body and achieving that step of feeling good and having well-being. That’s why we really need to know a few more things about you.

You started this to FEEL good right? Well it’s going to take more than a drug to get you there brother. The fact that you DON’T feel good is a testament to the fact that your health is on the decline. Your lifestyle (unless you experienced some major trauma from an accident or something of the like) is more than likely what got you to where you are. It’s going to take changing that lifestyle to bring you back to good.

When you hear guys tell you that TRT “changed their life”, they aren’t lying…but what you aren’t seeing is that the TRT not only balanced a hormonal issue, but it also motivated them to eat cleaner and start getting active. Nobody ever made full recovery to health without changing some things. If you decide that you are ready to rethink everything that you’ve been doing up to this point, and it sounds like you’re already taking the first steps, then…welcome to the first step of the rest of your life!

We are all here to help, but in the end it’s going to be YOU that has to do the work.

Ok.

5ft10 (178cm)
78-80kg depending on how much I’ve been eating and training etc.
37yrs old
Been doing lots of cardio for the last 5 years- in the last 2 it’s become really hard to train a lot as I just get wiped out and have to sleep loads if I train. I don’t lift any more- did that years ago and doesn’t interest me now. I like riding bikes and running.
I eat fairly well, lots of fresh fruit and veg. Have the occasional sweet binge. Used to probably drink too much but I’ve cleaned that up a lot in the last 2 year’s since I’ve been struggling with fatigue. Enjoy a take away on a weekend but am pretty clean eating in the week.

Exhaustion and gynecomastia have been the two main things I’ve really been trying to overcome but I’ve had next to no libido for the last 6 months too.

Pre TRT

Had about 4 sets of bloods

Total test generally about 18. Ref 10-30 iirc
Shbg has ranged from 50 to 75. Upper marker is 52 on the ref
Free test is always bang on about 0.3 ref 02-0.6, this has been really consistent!
Estradial has always been mid to high normal with it above the upper marker slightly on one occasion. 192 iirc and upper marker 172. Sometimes it’s been mid range.

The clinic looked at symptoms and my free test of 0.3 and agreed to trial.

The gynaecomastia has had the most impact
Psychologically and I had the glands removed 6 months ago with lypo. My body has started to lay fat back down on the chest again and that with being tired all the time made me decide to start.

I desperately want to get this dialled so as I train and lose weight it comes off my chest.

Felt good this morning- then tired this afternoon and have had a mini anxiety bout.

Have you had your cortisol checked?

Think GP did it a while ago before I gave up on them. Nothing has ever been “out of range” on the NHS.

Haven’t had cortisol done recently though no.

This is merely a suggestion so take it as you will…

Try this for about 6 weeks…

Calories - 2530
Protein (lean meats like chicken breast, turkey, etc…) 250g
Carbs (Low GI like sweet potato, brown rice, etc…) 180g
Fat (Omega 3’s like avacado, fish oil, etc…) 90g

Spread these macros out across 6 small meals a day evenly…
Typical meal - 42g Protein, 30g carbs, 15g fat

Limit cardio to no more than 3 days per week and try to start doing some weight training if possible 3-5 days a week. I think 6 weeks of this would probably surprise you…

In addition to the TRT or instead of?

Either way. You may find that your hormones will balance properly on their own with the right nutrition and exercise, but that’s no guarantee. Only one way to find out though, and that’s to give it a try. If you haven’t already decided to start, I would give this a try and then see where things land in 6 weeks before making a final decision.

Edit to add…Just went back and realized that I was thinking about a different thread…You’ve already started TRT so by all means, DO NOT stop at this point lol. Make the the dietary changes I recommended if you’d like, I still think it will be beneficial, but don’t stop TRT. Stay the course on that for at least 8-10 weeks before you change anything dosage wise.

Hormonal balance is key to good health, but you have to think about it like this…

Hormones are the tools your body uses to rebuild itself…BUT…without the right materials (proper nutrition and exercise), you’re not going to build a very dependable house…

Probably about to start the journey myself. Feeling trepidations about it. I suspect I’ve been on the low end of normal T range all my life - going back to my teenage years when other guys started to bulk up I just got a little fatter (I’ve never been super fat…but I’m definitely not fit. 5’9 - 5’10, 180# and probably somewhere in the 25% fat range. Don’t think this has varied more than +/- 10 pounds since I was 18 and I’m now 50.) When I would lose weight it felt like I was losing fat and muscle at the same time. I’ve eaten clean, I’ve eaten dirty, never really noticed a difference with my physique. Got tagged for t2 diabetes a few years back, well controlled (a1c and fasting numbers not far off normal at this point).

Total T more than 20% below bottom of lab reference with free and available just barely squeaking over the bottom of normal. SHBM on the lower side.

I do exercise but not as regularly/strenuously as I have at points in my life. I have every intention of hitting the weights and other exercise more aggressively to take maximum benefit from TRT if I start. Never going to be a bodybuilder etc but want to drop the fat and get some of the FFM I’ve been missing all my life.) Right now I’m waiting to take a second test with my GP so I can get some insurance coverage. Haven’t gotten full thyroid panel or pituitary, but TSH seems pretty reasonable (~ 1.3 on a 0.3-5.0 range).

Ok, what does FFM stand for? haha, could’t find it anywhere.

I am going to take a guess and say fat free mass

Sorry. Yes.

Ok so day 9 end of day. Been really depressed today. I’ve definitely got fat laying down on my chest that wasn’t there a week ago!

I know I’ve been told to ride it out and I’m going to take the advice, but if this continues when do I try taking the 1/4 arimidex tabs?

I’m asking if it continues as I really don’t want to end up with flipping tits again having had them chopped off 6 months ago.

I’m not imagining this, you can grab some nipple flab (not gland) that you couldn’t 9 days ago and my weight hasn’t changed!

Out of interest what proportion of people end up fully dialled in?

After you’ve been injecting for at least 8 weeks, and you still feel symptomatic, and you have confirmed EXTREMELY high and out of range E2 with blood tests… when all three of these criteria are met, you can feel safe trying a very low dose AI.

This is the wrong place to ask this question. By nature, this forum is full of people asking questions constantly, who are by that association “not dialed in”. This forum is a very skewed sample pool for that type of question.
