Starting TRT - A Few Questions

29 years old. Just got a blood test done at a local men’s health clinic.

Considering starting TRT next week.

Does my Total Testosterone seem absurdly low?

Also, will starting TRT allow me to recomp at a slight deficit (5’10", 158 lbs, ~17% BF)

Thanks

I don’t normally see men scoring this low, it’s more rare. I scored 120-225 ng/dL on the first round of testing, then stopping TRT two and a half years later 97->119->146 ng/dL. I can tell you this, with TT levels this low your SHBG must be incredible low, if it is, this clinic may not be a good fit for your needs because you will need injections daily!

SHBG levels are critical and necessary testing, without it you are lost. I don’t see any thyroid labs, if they are as equally as low as testosterone, things will not go as planned because testosterone is metabolized in the liver and thyroid hormones drives that process.

These clinics can cause more problems than they solves, often they force weekly office visit for the injections and some men do better on more frequent dosing, if needed this clinic just became all but useless to you. God forbid this clinic lock you up in a financial straitjacket by having you sign on for 6-12 months only to find out they have no skill to manage your TRT protocol.

I see this happen a lot.

Your high MCH might be indicating liver disease, not having enough vitamin B12 or folic acid in the body. These high MCH and MCV might indicate excess alcohol consumption.
