Starting a Relevant 3rd Party

Maybe some of those large corps back some of those regulations as a barrier to entry. Wouldn’t want any competition now would they? It took them a long time to join and set up the oligopoly.

RE investing. And you?

That wouldn’t surprise me. There’s a history of that sort of thing happening.

But that would seem to go against your assertion that less tax and less regulations are bad policy choices.

Your comments in this thread seem to be critical of the notion of le ss regulations and less taxes, and therefore to support the notion of either the same regulations as we currently have or more regulations and higher taxes as your preferred policy choices. But if that’s the case, what I quoted above is a direct outcome of more regulations as lobbying is central to policymaking. So these corporations are benefiting from more regulations rather than being controlled.

Your position doesn’t make sense to me.

Warehouse management.

I’m just curious how you haven’t noticed the effects of a modest decrease in taxes and regulation 3 years ago. Didnt appear to be fantasy.

(L)ed doesn’t work. He has a disability of some sort, in case you don’t remember.

If there’s any doubt about his identity: he has created 32 posts, one of which reads:

Disability other than being a leftist? I’m kidding obviously, but I haven’t seen too many of his posts so I was genuinely interested as to he comes to his conclusions about economics. Perhaps i put too much thought into internet forum discussions.

Because you joined T-Nation on Feb. 11th of 2014. It is your 7th anniversary here. Do you feel guilty T-Nation remembered, but you did not?

He should feel guilty he wasted seven years of his life.

Proper regulation. Not the kind written by corporate lobbyists. Makes perfect sense.

Yep can’t imagine another lefty on here in a sea of right-wingers,

All because I have good taste in music instead of listening to horror rock.

Lots of people including myself love Zeppelin, but I think he was referring to that poster because he was a bit much. Before my time so I don’t really know (I know he was banned), but I’ve heard mentioned several times.

Then, what do you mean by proper regulation? I.e. what does it look like, how is it structured? etc.

Explain how you’re putting these together please.

in one post you say less tax and less regulation is an illusion. Why exactly is it an illusion? In another post you mentioned how large corporations are taking advantage of additional regulations, which implies that they benefit disproportionately to small businesses, which I assume you are supporting.

Less tax and more money in people’s wallets is not an illusion. What they choose to do with that and how they choose to budget it is on them, but it’s not an illusion. Figuring out how to budget and fund the national priorities responsibly while cutting taxes is also a serious issue, and one that needs to be tackled, but if some legislators would have the balls to do it it might not be an illusion. Nobody wants to bite the bullet. In any case that does not counteract the fact that more money in people’s wallets is real. Not to mention simpler filing ( though that has not come to fruition, but it is a real way to make people’s lives easier).

More than a bit much, that guy was flat out nonstop irritation lol. Not to mention he couldn’t really string arguments together.

I think now would be a good time for a bunch of republicans and moderate dems to branch off and start a third party originally aimed at House seats that says they are going to stop sending money to foreign countries until we X (and define X very clearly). I think the bullshit that was put into the last stimulus bill pissed off a lot of people on both sides. I’m not really sure what the rest of the platform should entail, but that should be a good start. Maybe a specific tax aimed at billionaires with all revenue going specifically to forgive student loans. That way it doesn’t look like the grocery bagger at Kroger who never got to go to college is paying for the forgiveness. I don’t agree with that approach, but I think it would play well.

The issue is that this approach makes it more likely that far right or far left will be in control of congress (this happens now, but I think the margins would be larger). I think we would have to get rid of winner take all, or some other change to make starting a 3rd party (at least on that actually wins seats) palatable.
