Started TRT This Week. Tired and Dragging

Gotta respond here, my blood sugar is lower now, like in the 60-70 range daily. My calories are about 3000-4000 per day. I don’t eat a keto or paleo diet, I eat a modified version of what could be both. You have to learn to eat for your body with cleaner food.

I need about 4 bowls of oats a day to feel optimal. (So I make an oatmeal and water slurry with some dark chocolate in it) Sounds gross, but it’s real easy to eat and doesn’t sit like a rock in your gut like traditional oatmeal…

SHBG doesn’t seem to be an accurate predictor of anything. Mine has actually dropped to 4.0 or something crazy like that-- and it was low to begin with.

I don’t take anything except Metformin, which I only take these days as a PED. It actually makes your cells feed better and faster and consequently efficiency increases.

I don’t think SHBG is a good bio marker of anything. It seems to be too much Bro Science involved and myths and rumors. Your total and free T is what matters and how much is bound. I think the variety of SHBG from one person to another also can vary wildly based on genetics and other factors.

I would look at your Total T and Free T and your SHBG #. If your SHBG is very high (like 30+) yeah, thats a real problem. But if your Total T is like 100 (which mine was) or 150 or something, yeah, that’s MORE of a problem.

I wouldn’t fixate on the “cause” of the primary or secondary hypogonadism. Even if they fix it, your T will still be shit if your over 40. I’d just treat it and move on.

Make sure your not diabetic, on blood pressure pills (which can make you feel like shit) or other stuff. Due to YEARS of low T and shitty eating, and a bona fide lack of interest/energy/motivation to go to a gym or to exercise properly… I had full on metabolic syndrome. I was told I’d be dead in 3-5 years. So… I get it buddy. Take care of yourself. If your Doctor is a tool, fire his butt and replace him with a better one.

My Docs are responsible in part a LOT for my condition at the time I started TRT as none of them really discussed treating these problems properly.

And let me tell you, I have fired 7 Doctors in the last year or two. They really don’t like it when your like, “Well, thank you for your thoughts, but I disagree and you can consider yourself terminated as your advice is contrary to what other Doctors have told me…”

I am 32 years old and have a “clean” bill of health besides the depression, inflammation, and extra 100+lbs. No meds, bp is typically 118/80, FBG is 88, A1C is 5.2, TSH is 1.5, T4 is low, but within “normal” at .8, and T3 is 3.0, metabolic panel and lipids all came back normal. Only issue is total T is 226.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack the thread…

Good luck with your TRT regimen. There is lots of support from this community.

The extra weight (which I had as well) can help you aromatize more E2. More E2 = shutdown of T production over time. There are other things at play but this is the primary from my learning. Watch your E2 levels if you start TRT.

Also, I wouldn’t get too hung up on your TSH and T4 levels. They can swing a LOT depending on various factors. I almost believe the tests they use are unreliable (to a wide degree)-- OR alternatively this hormone gets constant feedback (which makes a lot of sense) considering what the hormones effect in the body.

If you don’t have any psychological issues, give the TRT 2 months of a try. It was 3 to 4 weeks before I even felt it.

Well, 16 pounds to 15% bodyfat. I’m stoked. I’ve actually started to shrink out the loose skin in some places. I’m starting to look like a mid weight boxer… in another month or two, I may look like a bona fide heavyweight lol.

It’s so hard not to want everything tomorrow, but damn this is some exciting sh*t lol.

EDIT for 10/21/2020: I woke up today in a kinda pool of loose skin rolling off my body. Freaked me out a little bit. But what can I do, just hit the weights and keep moving forward.
