Started Test Cyp, Odd Dosage. 200mg/Month

My primary care doctor put me on 200mg once per month. He says I would get aggressive if I injected twice per month. I’m waiting for a print out on the labs. My total test is 249

I’m thinking why didn’t he refer me to a urologist?

Thanks

Steven, you’re going to get slammed with responses. He is so full of crap. The old guidelines called for 200mg every two weeks. I said “old” guidelines, 90% of the guys on TRT, whether it be from a TRT clinic or underground, take 150-200mg once a week.

You’ll find many here that moved to twice weekly, or more, up to every day. Aggressive? You’ll get aggressive all right, like during more than half the month when your test levels are in the toilet. Now that will make you angry.

I’ll stop here and wait for the @systemlord explosion. Five, four, three, two, one…

As Highpull said you’ll get lots of feedback. I’m no expert - I’m just starting and had the same Rx written by my doctor. Before I even started I told him I’d rather go with the Endocrine Society guideline of 100mg/week as a starting point and he agreed to that.

You’ll probably want to post whatever labs you have (T and non T related - CMP, Thyroid panel, Lipids, whatever you’ve got…strip your name off if you like of course)

Totally retarded protocol. You’ll literally have less T at the end of the month than you do naturally. Actually by the 2 week mark you’ll probably be miserable and go downhill from there.

Find a new doc. You need at least 100mg every week to have any chance of success. He’s an idiot.

The VAST majority of men on TRT are once weekly shots. Some do every 3rd day, so every other day, and some daily.

Your dr. is absolutely clueless. HIGHPULL above is correct.

I would 100% absolutely try to find a new dr. AND, when you confront him about what you’ve learned on “the net”, get ready for him to discredit our knowledge.

Most on here understand TRT better than the majority of drs. That you can bank on.

Time to GTFO away from that doctor. This is why every person needs to do their own research so they don’t have to blindly listen to their doctor.

I wouldn’t even start. Even if you can split the dose up 50mg/week isn’t enough. Even the crappy recommendation for the product is 200mg every 2 weeks.
A quick edit. I’m seeing some “guidelines” now that say dosing is 50-400mg I’M every 2-4 weeks so if your doc is looking at that he might be thinking he’s that’s a nice conservative starting dose. He clearly doesn’t know much about it, but he didn’t necessarily just pull that out of his ass.

Your doctor is obviously very nervous about prescribing TRT and you need to cut him loose because his prescribing too little testosterone. I’m not sure an endocrinologist or urologist will be any better, maybe a little better.

Telling us you have a TT of 249 isn’t saying much, we need to know how much free testosterone is in circulation, estrogen and SHBG levels. A lot of doctors just don’t know how to play this hormonal game, most of what’s known isn’t written anywhere.

I just about fell out of my chair when I read the comment about your doctor claiming if you inject twice monthly you will get aggressive, he made it up. This comment belongs in “Stupid Things Doctors Say” thread. Men are supposed to be appropriately aggressive, if men lack aggression then these men aren’t men at all.

They will be emotionally compromised lacking motivation and failure to thrive, this is what it means to have low testosterone, low testosterone means not a man and will have feminine features → manboobs.

By the way when on TRT I inject daily and am not aggressive. It seems some in our society wants to turn us men into a gentle loving teddy bears lacking any male traits at all.

Proof of it right here

I would argue men losing their masculinity is harmful, look at men of this generation, they do not behave like men are more mentally unhinged, depressed, lack drive and are suicidal because they have lost their masculinity.

This OP doctor seems to be assaulting masculinity as if it were a disease. If it was me, I would find another doctor immediately! This doctor probably has low testosterone himself and is the poorest example of a man.

This is the reason I joined this forum. ( information)
Maybe he is being conservative, but I do not want to fall flat on my face after 10 or 15 days. I have all my meds, so if I need to inject 50 every two weeks, I will. Then he’ll have to change my RX.

As far as my complete labs, I’m not sure if he did everything or just a total test ? I’m waiting on the latest lab now.

I do appreciate the input…
Thank you

Man you are going to fall flat on your face with 50 every two weeks, also. I inject half of that daily. Even 100 every two weeks I would not expect to go well for you. Not saying you need as much as me, but that is a very small dose especially with a half life of 7-8 days. Your doc is being too conservative and I would expect you to feel worse then you are currently with what he is proposing.

No, you need to inject at least 100mg once weekly at a minimum, preferably more often. It makes no sense to inject medicine with a half-life of 7-8 days every 2 weeks because by day 14 levels will be lower than pre-TRT and a return of all hypogonadal symptoms.

TRT seems to be the only area of medicine where the half-life of the medicine is completely ignored. Your doctor is not being conservative, he just doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing.

You lack the necessary labs to initiate TRT, if your SHBG is low, you may need injections multiple time per week.

Hormone profiles after intramuscular injection of testosterone enanthate in patients with hypogonadism

In fact, the present study confirmed serum levels of T which were lower than pre-ART value levels on day 14 after administration. Therefore the further decrease in serum T levels on day 14 after administration is considered to relapse of hypogonadal symptoms and to reduce the patients quality of life.
