I have bad taste because I didn’t like Star Trek and I don’t enjoy things that are fun…lol.

I didn’t know people would take it so personally.

It’s not personal. If 1,000 people see a movie, 990 people enjoyed it and 10 people didn’t, I am very inclined to believe that the movie was actually decent rather than assume the 10 who hated it are expert movie critics with amazing unmatched taste on what makes a good movie.
you’re insane

Oh…and its been all but confirmed that the guy who portrayed George Kirk,Chris Hemsworth,is being cast as Thor.

I actually think he would make a good Captain America…oh well.

I’m torn. I’m not sure he makes a good Thor, but I’m not sure an Aussie should play Captain American either. However, I thought he was good in his limited time in Star Trek. Sorry to be crude, but I’d rather it be him than some fag American actor that’s an embarrassment to masculinity.

Supposedly, he’s 6’3" or 6’4". If that’s true and they can bulk him up, that’s at least a step in the right direction.
Well…I’m waiting to see if this true…I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for Alexander Skarsgard(great performance by his dad in Angels & Demons) as Thor. He was the front runner all along. Oh well,I’ll post about this in Geek thread to keep this thread on topic.

That survey must have taken a long time.

Full movie, I didn’t read the thread.

Enjoy.

Loved it!

I think Uhura’s breast should have been larger though… The green chick really outdid her in that departement.

Just got back in from seeing it (finally!).

I liked it. I was thinking through the flick these characters did a lot more in the movie than what the original actors (aside from Shatner/Nimoy/DeForest) did. I would’ve liked to have seen the original actors expand their roles similarly for the movies in their time, but oh well.

I liked the nods to TOS through the movie and thought everyone did a great job with their roles.

My only nitpick was the orchestral score. Didn’t really do much for me, aside from the opening scene where Kirk’s father/mother were naming him. I was hoping for something more rousing, like the music from the #2 & 3 trailers which - if anyone here is into trailer soundtrack scores - was done by Two Steps from Hell. http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/index-home.php

On the score, at least it was not “da-da-da, da-da-da-da-DAH!” throughout the film. Excellent decision, as that has become so shopworn.

And also not the Jerry Goldsmith theme (da, da-da-Dah, da-da-Dah… da-da-da-da-DAH, DAH, DAH, DAH-da-da-da, dadada) which was great when it was new but has likewise been run far into the ground.

Hahaha. I don’t think it would’ve been bad if they included a little nod in a couple scenes. Too bad Two Steps only does trailers.

Actually they did do the Alexander Courage theme (the first one) right at the very end, when Nimoy did the politically-correct “Where no one has gone before” narration.

True. I was thinking more the Goldsmith/Horner scores, though. The Courage one seemed…I dunno, dated.

One other quibble I thought of - the movie was a bit heavy on the lens flare.
