St. Pierre vs. Koscheck

Guys Brock Lesnar is too strong and to much of a freak to lose to Cain and he was division 1 national champ, his wrestling is superior. He’s going to take Cain down and pound a whole in his face.[/quote]

I’m looking for a quick KO from BJ Penn. Hughes thinks he can strike now and there’s nothing more dangerous (to himself) than a new striker.

(Hey as long as we are going back in time I actually get to be right for once

Honestly, I still wouldn’t have seen that one coming. If Alves couldn’t finish Hughes fast I never thought BJ would. Oh, and I have no idea what was up with Jake Shields against Kampman. He dominated Dan Henderson and then that. Maybe, I just underestimated Kampman.

Probably the dramatic weight reduction effected Shields performance.

Maybe I need to allow more for that. I just figured that if he could dominate Miller and out graple Dan Henderson, who can fight middle or light heavey, that even under the weather he should have had more. But, I have never cut a large amount of weight and then been punched, I’m sure it sounds easier than it feels. Sort of on the subject: Who is better Kos or Fitch. For a while I have been saying Fitch would be champ if not for GSP. Did AKA think Kos had a better chance or is it just maketing?

Oh man. GSP really is going to eat Shields alive on the feet. Maybe has something to do with the way he trains with the Diaz brothers, too. They do not generate power behind any of their punches, they just poke guys to death over time with their long arms. This will not work for Shields, who looks like he’s in kindergarten striking class right there.

shields showed a lot of heart for his fight against henderson, but be realistic, that was more a product of henderson showing upunprepared and gassing after the first round…and then shields still couldnt finish him. it is obvious that gsp’s pedigree at welterweight is much better than shields. shileds could win, i believe his top control could be better than georges, but i dont think he’ll be able to get him to the ground given gsp’s ability to transition between striking and grappling. i know the ufc is going to get their hype machine going and then we’ll all be excited, but looking at this objectively a few months out, it’s pretty much going to be a continuation of georges’s other performances. imo shields is pretty similar to fitch as a fighter, and we know how that turned out

Yeah a lot of people have done that to Hendo.

This reeks of dumb ass. Nate just killed Marcus Davis standing, Nick killed Zaromskis and KO’d Robbie Lawler. He trains with Andre fucking Ward tool and holds his own.

No,it reeks of what others have seen with Diaz brothers. Nick hasn’t KO’d anyone since Lawler…and that was in 2004. IN fact,Lawler is Nick’s only KO win. As for Nate…well…umm…yeah.

Anyways, yes, they cause damage that results in TKOs…but knocking out motherfuckers?? NO. They overwhelm people. It’s hard to get hit when you’re throwing twice as many punches as your opponent. As for the main point JH was making,Shields stand-up is awful…looks like he’s playing XBox Kinetic.

I will agree it has nothing to do with training with Diaz brothers…because if anything, his stand-up should be better from training with them.

^I second that. The Diaz brothers, particularly Nick, have some vicious standup. You can’t say Nick doesn’t have power when he’s KOing and wobbling guys left right and center. This guy picked apart Zaromskis.

Zaromskis tried to keep up with Nick’s pace…and go blow for blow with him. Bad game plan. He was exhausted…and taking shots drains you even more.

You could argue that it’s irrelevant because Nick won by TKO…but Zaromskis put Nick on his ass. Then of course he just angered the bee hive…lol…and then was picked apart.

I think the biggest factor with Nick’s standup is him just being tough…and having awesome cardio.

I never implied your first point but I think we agree they have good standup.

Your comments are spot on. Also, Fitch’s striking is light years ahead of Shields.

The thing about Nick is that he has a fantastic chin so he can afford to stand toe to toe with people with his chin way up in the air and just continuously throw little peppering punches without worrying too much about getting KO’d.

This style works very well for him, but it’s not the type of style that you can teach someone else without those gifts to use effectively. It would be like saying that because someone trains with Rampage that they must have the ability to power bomb people out of triangle chokes.

Obviously some people have gifts which give them the ability to make unorthodox things work, but that doesn’t mean that the people who train with them are also going to benefit from those gifts or inherit them.

I think Jake beats Fitch, Fitch’s standup isn’t good enough to finish fights, Shields top game is.

and if Thiago could get a round and almost finish Fitch I think Jake can.
