That means? With a really rounded back?

Hey guys don’t wanna hijack the thread but quick question about this. I did a little experiment with squatting daily a bit back alternating Front and Back Squats to atleast 90% of my max. My Squat both took off I am a shitty squatter but FS from 235lbs to 305lbs and BS from 315 to 370lbs in just under 2 months. But almost every upper body movement espeacially pressing stalled or worse yet regressed… was this normal for that to happen at that time or was it just in my head.

Are you sure Glenn programs daily squatting? I was the impression he prescribed something more conservative precisely because his athletes are clean.[/quote]

I know they get 2 workouts a day, usually 7 days a week, each of which include snatch/c&j. I guess I’m not totally sure if squat EVERY day, haha. I see them squat a lot though.

interesting, not something I’ve heard of, probably just one of those things/coincidence -difficult to know with so many unknown variables eg programme, diet, but seems to stand to reason if you are prioritizing squats it may impact on other exercises to a small degree (not a very scientific answer…)

The only other lifts I did were the Sn/CJ so I don’t know how a bench press or overhead press would react to this. That said, once your body had adapted to the squatting I don’t see why it would hinder your ability to press.

I don’t believe they squat everyday, but I know they do several times a week. Something like a heavier 3x5 one day, a lighter 3x5 another day, and a max set of 5 another day. But don’t take that as gospel. Broz has his guys squat everyday though.

Glenn’s guys squat 3x’s a week. Mon is 3 sets of 5 BS, Wed is 3 x 3 FS, and Sat is working up to max set of 5. All based on Texas Method. There are some variations, but this is the basic programming.

Number of monthly squat workouts in relation to relative strength scores in backsquats (Poliquin 1997)

200% - 6
300% - 28
350% - 36
400% - 60

So…I would take the above that your training protocol and recovery “could” be based off your relative strength. I’m sure ather variables like experience, work capacity, years training, etc etc are all incorporated into those figures “naturally”. Meaning, the longer you train and progress, the more squat workouts you should be able to do within a certain time period.
