Squat Suit, Need Some Advice on What to Buy.

I’ve worn out my inzer power pants. This is probably my 5th or 6th pair and after a long hiatus from using legal equipment, I’m curious to jump back into the game again.

I’m current using power pants, wraps and a belt for squatting, and just power pants and a belt for deadlifting.

I am looking for an IPF legal suit, but here’s the catch. I don’t squat really wide (a little beyond shoulder stance), but I pull sumo (toes don’t touch the plates).

I’ve used a METAL V-type viking in the past and loved it. I am not sure how well it would work for my current stance.

I would also look into either Titan Superior NXG+ suit, or the Centurion NXG Super+. I honlesty don’t need insane support since I having been using minimal equipment for some time.

There’s also the option of getting an Inzer champion suit (I don’t like their higher end equipment at all), but only if the material is like the power pants. I ordered a Z suit which feels thin and gave me MUCH less support.

The superior suit sounds like a steal considering its about 60 USD and is NXG+. Like I said, I don’t need anything w/ a huge amount of support.

Sorry for the rambling, but what do you guys think? I’d probably be ordering the suit in the next couple days, so any advice would be appreciated.

The superior suit is a good value based on the carryover you get compared to other suits. you can pay twice as much for an inzer hardcore and get less support. but keep in mind the nxg+ fabric is still a big step up from power pants

I use a z-suit myself, Yeah it’s pretty thin but I plan on upgrading after this year. So I’ll be following this thread. I was thinking about the inzer hardcore. We squat the same but I switch between a super wide sumo, and conventional deadlift stances, and for the time being I’m stronger conventional.

Why don’t you want anything with a huge amount of support…?

Just man up and get the centurion nxg super+

The V-type Viking I had gave me a hell of a carry over compared to using a champion suit, so I am used to accommodating any form of support or resistance I might encounter.

If the superior is in between the champion & Viking suits, then that sounds ideal IMO.

Ha! I know what you mean. You’re the one who I’d hope would respond. I like METAL, but I have always heard good things from people who wore Titan, include you and people I knew who lifted years ago way before I started posting on the internet 8 years ago.

I need to know, moderate stance squat + sumo stance deadlift = wide stance suit? Is this doable with a centurion?

Edit:

Sizing recommendations? I don’t want to take 4 years to get into the suit.

Because, I might finally hit a triple bodyweight squat or break 600, and you’d cry!

Just giving you a hard time buddy…

I’ve a regular stance centurion, you know my competition squat stance width right? (it’s in my avatar anyway if ya don’t)

I’ve also pulled sumo in my centurion and done ok with it. I don’t think the “stance” of the suit you pick really matters that much. I’ve WS centurion nxg super+ briefs that I wear sometimes and there’s no real difference at all tbh.

And lol… I’m hoping both of those fall by year end!!

Oh and looks like my comp’s been moved a week forward, so I might do them at 21 too!!! (comp was on 26/7, i’m 22 on 24/7, it’s now been moved provisionally to 19/7!!)

Thanks Hanley, since there’s no difference and its a coin toss, which should I get?

Honestly, I have no pics of my stance, but I’ll assume my stance is no less than 4" narrower, so pick my poison and hopefully I can get the suit by weeks end.

EDIT:

When you picked your size, what fitting did you get, meet or extreme (I doubt you got regular, that’s not like you)? I’ll be putting this bad boy on myself, so I’m guessing meet fit for myself, but first hand experience is always the best advice.

Sorry to ressurect a semi-dead thread, but I’m buying a new suit in the next couple months, single ply, looking to be able to deadlift conventional in it. What recomendations can you give? single ply.

edit: I squat a little wider then shoulder width, I’m thinking of metal ipf line, or the titan centurion.

Titan prices are due to go up next month on liftinglarge.com, so get in there quick if you plan on buying Titan gear.

I think you’ll have a hard time finding a good squat suit that you can convo DL in tho.

Ah, well I’m broke right now anyways, but I think I’ll end up get the titan. How much do you get out of it? If I squat a bit outside shoulder width should I get the close stance or wide stance?

Go ahead and get a Centurion. If you have a hard time getting down, then add more weight.

I know that’s a simplistic view, but it’s totally true. When I went to suit/brief combo that took mid-700s to get depth vs a suit/brief combo that took midd-600s to get depth, I pretty quickly went from being a low-700s squatter to being a low-800s squatter.

I can’t wear briefs, just single ply. So I might be looking at like 60-70 pounds from the centurion?

I would expect at least 60-70 out of a loose suit. If it is tight and your technique is solid- double that. I have an old centurion- from before they released the super plus fabric. It is snug in the legs and hips- but the straps are so loose I can put them up myself. I have squatted 717 in that suit and I am maybe a 600-620 raw squatter. I would expect a new suit with tight straps would give a lot more pop.

If you are going single ply I would advise either Titan or Metal. If you are low on cash, focus on a good squat suit, you’ll get more out of it.

I hear the inzer fusion is supposed to be a great deadlift suit, but it’s expensive and you can’t use it to squat in. Hope some of that helps?

Thanks, I’ll probably invest in the centurion. If I have spare cash floating around I might get both, and try them both out. But that’s not too likely.
