Squat Rack Curls 5.0

Yesterday, the X-Fit class emerged from their room to consume 4 power racks in the free weight area. They made 4 lines and took turns doing high-rep squats. I saw it all… considering they were using 95-120 lbs, I can’t believe now much knee grinding, above parallel and “I’m not squatting I’m just bending forward”. With a little calf raise at the end too (because we all know a 120 lb calf-raise for a 180 lb man is challenging).

^^What the hell did I just look at?

yesterday
2 skinny black kids were sitting on the same bench, doing concentration curls, swinging in time to the horrible gym music.

groan. i kinda hate gym music because i can’t help but move in time to the music. at least when i have an i-pod nobody knows.

Yesterday I realized Its been many months since I saw anyone do a decent depth squat.

How is them being black relevant to that story?

Is it just me or was he dancing to the music?

#1 hopefully camera man was kicked out for setting off the “lunk” alarm after filming this
#2 I just may have to poke my eyes out with a stick and clean my ears out with a bullet after being exposed to this ; )

I’m pretty sure he is a water-skier in the show at SeaWorld staying in shape in the off-season.

My eyes are still burning.

I don’t have the time or nerve to get video of a couple of guys at my gym.

One guy walks in to the controlled deadlift plate loaded machine. Most people just use it for shrugs. He jumps on it and loads as many plates as possible on it, no warm up, and proceeds to do the most god awful, painful, agonizing deadlifts. His back resembles a fishing rod with moby dick on the other end. His face looks like Craig’s dad from “Friday” taking a shit and really straining to get a monster turd out. I have also witnessed him loading up the Cybex chest press machine with way more weight than he can handle. He practically stands up to get the weight up his whole body off the pad and goes through these muscle spasms to lift the weight. I honestly don’t know how he isn’t hurt at this point. I am going to get him on video one of these days.

The other guy grabs some 35s and does what he feels are deep lunges but to the trained eye are merely farmers walks. He walks and just ever so slightly bends his knees. By looking at him you would think he was deep lunging with 225 on his back.

Not much bullshit goes on at my gym however, I do know many of the guys workouts that don’t consist of any legs.

This is an anti-SRC story.

I just recently joined a new gym for about a month since I am back from school. First conversation I had with another person training in that gym was when the guy next to said, “Light weight. You got it.” It was my last set of deadlifts. I have high hopes.

Nothing too much to add here, but I’m sick of the fat as fuck powerlifters at my gym who are out of breath after a set of chest supported rows. And these aren’t cases that being fat helps them…I’m talking guys who put on a bench shirt to press 275 and DL in the mid 4s. I’m not a PLer and these guys have like 10 years training experience on me and I’m putting up bigger numbers.

Ok so yesterday I did not bitch when I saw people using equipment they pay to use.

Today this guy, who was pretty thick for his height, probably like 5-9 maybe around 200#(I"m 5-7 170 for reference). I grab a squat rack to start doing my thing, and I see that the above mentioned guy has 4 plates loaded on each side in the squat rack, at squat height. So I’m thinking ‘ok, this should be interesting’, cuz you know either he’s strong as fuck or it’ll just be retarded as usual.

Well, retarded as usual, I’d be surprised if he moved his ass down 2 inches. He then proceeds to add 1 more plate per side, and I’m just observing this, waiting for his knee ligaments to give from his shit form.
I was actually thinking to myself ‘If he gets injured from this stupidity, should I even offer help?’.

I don’t think I would have. Is that bad?

You are not an elite lifter. High school football players are bigger than you. The only thing funnier than half squat bad asses are shit talking pip squeeks.

I went to the gym today and threw 2.5 pound plates at all the people who bug me.

So… pretty much everyone.

So I guess you are an elite lifter? What’s your total?
