You can curl off the floor. The main issue is that you can curl anywhere, but you can only squat in the squat rack

Today some twat walked face first into the lat pulldown, it might of been me but I cant really remember all my workout

That reminds me of a transexul guy we had in the gym who would throw his legs apart on the rowing machine, whilst wearing short shorts. Turns out he/she was pre op.
So to clarify, are we talking about a chick with junk or a dude with a vagoo?

A soon to be chick with junk. I Haven’t seen him in a while so he could now be a she.
Remember that girl at the gym whose phone number you got last Friday?

some wannabe powerlifter twat got crushed by 265 and two guys ran over to pull the bar off

they were too quick, they were definitely anticipating me failing the rep

5pm, gym is fairly busy. There’s this rastafarian looking dude, like, fight dancing all over the freeweight area. I mean, all over. He must’ve been high. This goes on for a good 15 minutes. Then, he takes the pins from the squat rack, continues “fight dancing,” but now he’s using the pins as a bow staff. Haven’t seen him since.

However, I saw something really funny (and annoying). I need to use the squat rack for workouts today, but one of the swimmers was using it. He had, on each side, a 5lb and 2.5lb weight. The bar was also about his shoulder height, so I was waiting to see what kind of exercise he was performing.

Turns out, it was RDLs. He took the bar down from shoulder high stands and started doing RDLs. First of all, why is the bar at shoulder height for RDLs and why would anyone keep placing the bar that high after each set? Second of all, why would you use an Olympic Bar for that small of weight when there are perfectly good fixed bars that weigh 60 pounds?

I just hate the swimmers in the weight room right now
Maybe this swimmer was doing a clean finisher, to get the bar back up to shoulder height. Great workout.

Dude, if the girl swimmers are there then by all means do RDLs. I can wait.

Thankfully this craze hasn’t made it across the pond.

He did one rep to get it back to the rack. With 60 pounds. I have no idea why he is then using a rack or why he is not trying harder.

I don’t know if this is SRC relevant. But it surely is worth mentioning.

A mate and I are CGBP when two other lads hop on the bench next to ours. Both of the lads do about 20 reps with the bar. The smaller of the two asks the larger fella, how much he wants on the bar , he says ‘three 20’s(kg)’. I immediately think, well unless that’s 3 a side that won’t work
Nope 3 a side. Bangs out about half a dozen reps.

Second set, he asks his spotter how much he is helping to which he replies ‘about 30kg at the start and probably 70 at the very end’. This spotter obviously wasn’t as he was using finger tips. The larger bloke then says that when he touches his chest with the bar it hurts, so he deliberately only does the top half.

Dudes obviously strong, but what’s happened to doing a warm up? Or repping properly? Saw the same thing when we were doing some incline dbs. Fellas walking in, laying down and grabbing 45kg dbs to press. Common sense isn’t.

Saw a guy doing a behind-the-neck snatch grip split jerk on friday.

Seemed odd to me, then I found out people actually do this.

things that made me chuckle today:

-trio of guys all on benches doing DB flyes
reminded me of synchronized swimming.
-guy alternating between BB raises and forearm curls w/ the same weight in the squat rack.
-bored asian girl on machine and obviously just going through the motion w/ no effort

Fething prick slamming 50lb dumbbells into the ground after doing bench press with them
and why the hell do you need wrist wraps for 50lbs?

I’ve noted the most obnoxious and loudest people in the gym are invariably average guys who think they’re hard as nails.

How can you curl off the floor? I mean it doesn’t make sense unless, like, you deadlift it first

that’s bad for your back
