I used a squat rack for about 30 minutes today for like 12 or more sets of squats. After a short break I was going to use it again for RDLs but some chick was using it so I went somewhere else.
If I can take my barbell work somewhere else than a power cage or squat rack, Iāll do so. If Iām in a gym with more bars than cages/racks. But yeah⦠Iāll totally hog the cage for 30min sometimes.
Being one of the only people who uses the single squat rack in my gym, Iāll hog the fucker all day long if I want(thatās just the kind of hardcore motherfucker that I am).
If somebody else wants to use it, ask me how many sets I have left or something. Thatās what I do if somebody is using a piece of equipment, usually gets the hint across.

That shit is more annoying.
3 sets of 4 squats taking a half hourā¦
Might somewhat be guilty of this haha.
Lol you fucking asshole
I bet you bench in the cage too without using bands when there are open benches available.

Damn. Thatās valid. I canāt say anything about that.
This thread comes to mind when running smolov, my 10 sets of 3 for my fourth squat session of the week today took well over an hour including warmups. U mad ? (used my home rack though)
Considering thereās about 3 other people at my gym that use the rack for full squats, I donāt feel bad about using it for long amounts of time. And if weāre in the way of each other and weāre gonna be there a while longer, we work in. So I donāt feel bad at all when the skinny bro asks me how many sets left, and I tell him seven or eight haha.
K hereās what happened:
I ramp up on squats as my warmup. When Iām done I take off all the weight to ramp back up on the OHP. As I take the weight off some dude thinks Iām done so he asks to use it after. I tell him that I need it for OHP. He says heās doing that exercise too. At this point I should told him āthatās niceā and proceeded to do my work but instead I let him work in. Thatās mistake number 1. Mistake number 2 was letting him readjust the pins a notch higher (he was about 6 inches taller than me). Honestly I donāt know what I was thinking. Then we proceed to do our sets. My max set for the day was 145x5, so I tell him to put that weight on. For this set I decide to put some plates under my feet to make up for the fact that the pins are set higher. Thatās mistake number 3. As I unrack I realize that the plates are too small will easily slip on them at any moment, but I try to get my set. Guaranteed, the wobbliest set I ever did in my life. I was wondering why it was so hard. I check the other side and realize that the guy working in with me put an extra 2.5 lbs on that side (mistake number 4). Moral of the story, donāt let people work with you, or if you do, make sure everything is your way.
If he was taller, and youāre both doing Mil Press, then both of you should have stuck with the lower pins.

Pretty sure everyone is a skinny bro by comparison dude. Sorry I never called you in NC. That trip totally sucked and I was at LZ Hawk the whole time. No time for shit! Might be back in August though.
Let me just add: today I saw a beautiful Greek / Italian girl squatting high 100ās to depth today. It was pretty awesome. She had a fucking awesome ass.

I say that in the case of two guys working in the same rack, the height of the hooks should be accommodated to the shorter one every time. If itās too high for the shorter dude, then heās basically hosed, whereas if itās low for the taller dude, he only has to deal with a lower pick.

Itās cool, I know how that crap works. Next time.
And somewhat true, but yknow, youād expect at a place where so many people supposedly take training seriouslyā¦maybe 5 or 6 would squat regularly, and properly haha.
Amusing second-hand storyā¦
Old training partner and I happened to end up training together todayā¦he was telling me last week he was box squatting, and had some random skinny dude come up to him and tell him it was bad for his back. Itās funny since he is NOT a small guyā¦like 1-2" taller, and about 20 lbs heavier than me. Yet for some reason I still have never had anyone try to correct me about any exercise Iām doing in the gym, but itās a semi-regular occurrence for him. Maybe his demeanor is just more open and friendly, idk.
Some guy supersetting shitty ROM(think quarter squats) tricep pushdowns with some fucked up plank variation(ass way up in the air)
I take the rack for a while sometimes. But I try not to be a dick about it. I look around and see if people are giving me the eye and I ask people that are doing other leg stuff if they are going to want the rack.
The other day I wanted to use it for rack pulls. I got there and some other dude had just set up for overhead presses or something like that. It was an exercise where the bar was up higher. I could have done my rack pulls and worked in with him. I asked if he was in there for a while, with my idea being I could warm up if he would be quick. He says, āIām doing a circuit. You want to work in.ā I politely decline and say Iāll do mine somewhere else. Shitty part is this dude wasnāt even in the rack for the next 20 minutes. I could have been done in there.

Sorry if my squat-rack squatting is getting in the way of your squat-rack curlingā¦
I remember one time at my old gym I was doing sumo pulls from a deficit, and this skinny dude comes over, sees the bar, and goes āthat looks like a hernia waiting to happenā with a smile on his face. Then during my next set, he stands behind me, takes a swig out of his bottle, and shakes his head (I saw it in the mirror lol). Iām thinking to myself āReally dude? Fuck off. DYEL???ā

special kind of stupid reserved for people like thisā¦
Barbell rows with 7.5 lbs per side standing on one of only two benches in the gym.
Side bends with 4kg dumbbells.
Tightening the obleeks, brah
