I felt stuck in retard zone yesterday…whenever the chalk buckets at the gym are empty, I tell an employee, and let them know if they’ll grab a couple blocks of chalk for me I’ll fill them up myself. Up until yesterday, that had always worked great…they were happy to keep chalk off their clothes and hands, I don’t mind taking the few extra seconds to do it. Yesterday…

Me: Both buckets are out of chalk, if you grab a few blocks I’ll fill them up for you
Him: Oh, ok goes onto gym floor and inspects chalk buckets, as if I was making it up
Me: as he’s walking back If you just grab the blocks of chalk for me I’ll handle it man
Him: Well, they’re blocks making gestures with his hands to show me what a block of chalk looks like
Me: I kn…nevermind go back to lifting while he gets the chalk

I was speechless…dude, I referred to them as BLOCKS of chalk twice in the conversation, I KNOW THEY ARE BLOCKS AND I THINK I CAN HANDLE IT
Yeah, but, dude… They’re BLOCKS.

Is that odd?

The owner of my gym likes to smash the chalk and put powder in the bowls…I like powder vs a block

Anyone else have this new thing where the thug lites will strip all their weight off except one 45lb plate on eeach side? Is it a new cool thing to do to make it seem like someone is still using the equipment, is it to show how uberswole they are and taking off those last two 45’s is too much? I do not understand
Ill admit, Ive done that once or twice.

But Ive only done that at a gym where nobody puts their weights away, except for me… so I end up putting away other peoples weights after I have to walk around the gym going on a witch hunt to find them, so I got sick of doing that so in retaliation I would just leave the 2 45lb plate on the bar. Someone else can put those away.

Unless I’m in the gym and there are mostly women there I always leave a single 45 per side after I’m done

I see it as a coutesy as most peoples first sets are 45s for warm up

confession: I put the bar on TOP of the power tower (height 7’6") and then loaded it up with all the 45’s just

to be a PRICK,since I got sick and tired of having to also hunt and peck to find the plates scattered about the

spa ! ! !

I guess so…but I did start moisturizing every night, as a preventive measure. Next I’m gonna have to get manicures for when my nails get all yucky from the dirt.

I have actually done that. Point probably is, if you can’t at least lift a 45lb per side, you probably shouldn’t even be in the gym to begin with.

exactly. and if the name of the gym isn’t Curves, it will not be mostly women. The gym will always and forever be manland.

I always do this with the leg press tbh

I just assume noone is gonna use less than 1pps on the leg press

I don’t know if this is a normal/regular occurrence in gyms everywhere, but at my university’s gym, many of the asian foreign exchange students squat with thin/yoga mats as pussy pads. Usually they don’t go higher than 185#, and it’s always quarter squats.

I did have it properly strapped down, sorry for the omission.

The quizicall looks of the spa goers was well worth the effort.

Took it down at the end of the business day…fwiw !

Weird… I am a woman and I am capable of lifting a 45lb plate, but I always ALWAYS warm up with the bar first.

Awwww you’re a woman

So cute with your little woman hands

Awwwww

Do you lift wearing oven mits?

That’s only because you suck. I warm up with the bar first but not because I suck. It’s because I’m old and my hips creak.

I always start with the bar to groove my movement. And for military press, I usually work out with less than 135.

Also, when I was first starting, I was working out with the bar and some odd change on each side. It was all I could do to drag around the 45lb plates. We all had to start from somewhere.

on machines though?

clearing barbells is the norm because youre right, you never know if someone is gonna shoulder press or curl

but from the plate loaded machines, yea, most anyone can pump out with 45’s

I start with the just the bar for squat, bench, and military press as a warm up.

For the same reasons as ourburo, lol.

I’m going to try to video some of the nonsense I have seen.

I hate it when people leave a 45 on each side. Even if I didn’t warm up, there’s still the issue of adjusting the bar for different exercises.
