Squat Rack Curls 2011

x2

but thats not the worst part. The worst part was the fact that he was using an empty barbell behind his back when a wrist roller, a good one, was less than 10 feet away.

A dude with his teenage son.
They walk over to the squat rack, put 185 on the low pins looking like they’re about to to some DLs.
The dude grips the bar looking fine - bar close to the shins, butt down etc.
Completes the DL. After that he just slightly bends forward so the bar travels maybe 2 inches back down and then back up 20 or so times. I’ve seen some 1/4 squats before but never a 1/10 DL.
Thought maybe his back is messed up but no, his son was doing the same thing later on.

I saw a guy the other day doing curls in the squat rack with his son, probably 11 or 12. Then they moved over to the dumbbells and cable stations, I was there for probably a half hour and all they did was curls. I wanted to call child protective services on him, what a shitty way to teach your kid to workout.

Keystone deads are like an RDL but stop above the knee… however I’ve only heard of them being used with obscene weight.

Reading all this is pissing me off already because i know that all these people go to my gym and all happen to be there EVERY TIME I’m at the gym too.

nevermind the weight
the bar was nowhere close to the knees. I’m talking literally 2 inches down from the lockout.

No problem. I actually ran out of energy when I started typing about your man-crush on the trainer.
Eh. I won’t even try to argue that. But he’s one of the most muscular dudes in the gym, and from what I’ve heard is going to be competing at the Emerald Cup at some point.

Ok yeah, I suppose I’m just reinforcing your point now.

But hey, who doesn’t like someone who will kick a SRC’er off the squat-rack?

Saw the curl master tonight, this kid seriously looked like his biceps were pulling his entire body into a knot. No triceps at all and horrible posture. We noticed him doing ez curls, preacher curls, dumbbell curls, as he usually does. But tonight was different. He had some strange apparatus dangling from his neck, sort of like a grooved thin strip of metal that curved to support… you guessed it… doing curls. Like some sort of mobile preacher curl thing, he used it for doing low pulley curls. Wtf? Has anyone seen something like this before?
These were popular in the 80’s and 90’s.

I hate January. Seriously, I hate it. Was warming up in the SRC, by the indoor track…some douchebag strolls by and passes gas by my head.

That was me…sorry. It’s got to be the no-xplod.

today

squatting 405, on second rep nearly got stuck in the hole, but I got it out. power cage is right next to the cardio machines, and in fact is in front of the last ones on the row.

as i unrack the weights, a cardio bunny asks, ā€œHow do you lift all of that weight? doesn’t it hurt?ā€ I look at her and say, ā€œare you intimidated?ā€ as I unwrap my knees and toss the wraps in my gym bag. she got this really confused look on her face, and i walked away.

havent really seen anything SRC worthy yet buuuuuuuut…

HOLY SHIT there were a lot of people at the gym last night! I’ve never seen it that busy before. It better start clearing out here soon cause if it stays that packed I’d honestly start looking for a new gym.

…and she walked home with her taser in hand

not really src but on monday I saw the guy with the weirdest proportions ever. Like I don’t even know how to describe it. My gym has a lot of big guys for comparison and I’ve seen a few competitive bbs etc… so I know what big looks like irl incase someones going to call me out.

But basically this guy had chicken legs obviously … but an absolutely massive back… like his lats are insanely wide… and his overall back is crazy thick(like the back on one of the larger guys cut off and put on this guys smaller frame). Then his chest was decently developed as well from what I could tell…(wearing a chopped up shirt… and yes I was looking because his proportions were beyond distracting… I was rather confused tbh). The kicker was that his arms were also small… like his chicken legs. And when I say small I mean he had absolutely no triceps and just a little bit of biceps. They have to be maybe 12-13 inches at most… maybe 14 but definitely not bigger.

He was training with 2 other people and he was struggling to rep 160lbs on bench… which only confused me more based on his development… and this wasn’t a light day or a lay off etc… I’ve seen him in there several other times struggling with the same or similar weights.

Basically its hard to describe what this guy looks like… but its absolutely the most bizarre body shape I’ve ever witnessed… maybe really weird genetics or gear mixed with stupid… I don’t know… just thought i’d share lol
Maybe a rower? Though I think his biceps would be a bit more developed.

not with chicken legs, rowing is heavily leg dependant so I highly doubt that

^^ I think that is on par

Give it a month or so. They’ll realize that you dont get instant results and go back to sitting on their couches.

You failed on that one.
That was legit question.

Seriously?

No way. Most rowers on my school team have only decent, but unremarkable back development, no chest development, and tree trunk legs.

Okay, I’ll be honest. She didn’t ask that question, and I didn’t give that answer, but she did look at me oddly.
