Squat Rack Curls 2011

Seen the same guy twice in about 5 days

single arm dumbbell kick backs in the squat rack

Why embarrassed? I always do that… just to get amped up for squats!

I saw a guy doing 1 arm barbell curls in the smith machine… that was interesting.

Almost took someone’s head off a couple weeks back. At the commercial gym I train at there is this weird, ā€œstyledā€ DB rack thing for the 1-10kg DBs that makes an X. The 10kgs dbs are on either side of the bottom of the ā€œXā€. So standing on the flat side of the X, with my left army I put the DB away on the left side, I begin swinging the right DB to put it away and some 20y.o. kid decided it was a good time to grab the towel underneath the X. He LITERALLY put his head into the path of the DB while grabbing for the towel (he could have walked around and been 100% safe). Shocked beyond words, I just shouted ā€œheyā€ and stopped the swing. I’m not even sure the kid realized what he had done. I believe we were the only two people in that section at that time.

AARRGGHH…Xanadu and Dancing Queen blasting out of the earbuds of this fucktard doing half-assed lunges in the squat rack, all the while Kashmir playing at a respectable level in the backround…AARRGGHH. Anyone have a baseball bat ???

I had to wait 10 minutes for this asshole to finish his super slow sets of 1000 reps with the only olympic bar available so I could use it. And I’m pretty sure he did it on purpose.

Ever feel like punching someone’s head out ?

yeah… Being a stretch and massage therapist I prefer a Louievile Slugger.

I kicked someone out of the squat rack
I had to do JM Press and I use the pins in the squat rack
A guy was doing DB lunges looking at himself in the squat rack
I asked him if he was using it, he said, uh no
I said, ok I will, i went to get a bench and when I returned he was still there
ahem move
go do your lunges anywhere in the gym

trained in my basement today

nothing to report

I was doing awesome biceps curls with my gloves, sunglasses, and awesome biker shorts on and this little hottie kept sneaking by like a little hot ninja and I think she was taking pictures of me with her cell phone. I think she’s into me. Totally wants my junk.

One time when I was curling 90lbs in the squat rack some loser in the squat rack next to me was doing Zercher squats.

For the past two years, there’s a guy who goes to my gym in his early 20s that walks everywhere with a log book. I’ve shared equipment with him and know that he logs:

-Weights
-Reps (duh)
-Rest periods
-Warmup specifics (stretches used, dynamic movements to get his body ā€˜ready’)
-Difficulty of reps

I know this by actually glancing at the insanity that was this little black book, but whatever, some people do it this way I guess… Except he squats 200lbs for 5, and benches 135. I also believe he’s been on 5x5 the whole time.

There’s another older dude that comes to my gym VERY regularly, as in 5-6 times a week. Yes, that’s normal. Except he’s in there, I shit you not, 3-4 hours at a time (according to the attendants).

His routine is the SAME, everyday. He’ll do lat pulldowns, and dick around on the varied machinery available which includes:
-Preacher curl machines
-Tricep machines
-Various presses in the smith.

I’ve trained at that gym since I started 2-3 years ago and have seen him in there, no bullshit, 75% of the time, which means he spends more time in there than some attendants.

The funny part? The guy is about 170lbs, and, without fail, ā€˜mentors’ various younger lifters in his bodybuilding ways. That is to say I’ve never seen him train without 2-3 skinny 14-18 year olds shadowing him, while he drops valuable nuggets of information such as:

-Don’t train legs, running is enough.
-All reps must be slow on concentric.
-Every set to failure.
-No warmups.
-No need to eat more than usual.
-Those guys (pointing to two of my friends and myself) are fatasses. Note that one walks around with cuts in his quads at 200lbs/5’9, and the other is 225lbs/5’8 and benches 3 plates for 2.

His spotting method is… suspect. I’ve noticed that he goes out of his way to spot lifts via skin contact. Fingers on elbows instead of the bar, doing the old ā€˜tactile feedback’ thing and placing his fingers on his protege’s chest as they perform smith machine board presses.

We (my training buddies and I) have affectionately dubbed this man, Pedoteddy, since while he does seem to have an affinity for young boys, he is not big enough to be dubbed Pedobear.

You should tell him to get that tumor checked out.

PS- Why is he wearing a fannypak?

Wow…

That’s some hugemongous…limb…

a guy at my gym looks like harvey keitel, except taller and with more forehead. though he is tall that does not justify his habit of putting a bar on the top set of pins in the squat rack. he has to stand on his toes and carefuly rack and unrack both sides individualy.
what kind of person is so oblivious?

I think I have the same guy at my gym here in Taiwan!!!

I can go to any of 5 branches of World Gym here (used to be California) and there’s one branch that I go to once in a blue moon…sometimes it’ll be in the A>m, sometimes after work and a few times I’ve gone there for a quick workout at lunchtime and this guy is without fail ALWAYS THERE!!!
He does pretty much nothing (I have a video of him on youtube doing the worst lat pulldowns) and he also seems to walk around watching the young guys.

Here’s the video:
