Squat Rack Curls 2011

That’s a good question…I googled it wondering the same thing…everything I found on the first couple pages says specifically NOT to do that…where people got the idea to do it…I have no idea.
I see people of all sizes form the puny to the big guys do it at my gym. It never crossed my mind to even try it.

Yesterday I was waiting for a bench to open up…3 bros humping one of the two benches. One of them was curling 185, one was spotting him while lying on the bench and the other was cheering them on. Was awesome and I wish I had my phone for a video.

Gym today, guy on eliptical sipping on a starbucks frappuccino (sp?)

I gave a guy a spot on the bench today…I then said

Fucking facepalm, I was a brotard. it happens.
Hahaha I did this about a month ago. Guy was benching 395 for a few reps. I felt like Andy Sandburg from ‘I Love You Man’: “It’s all you bro, I just pinkies.”

Oh god, this forum is going to fill up fast with all the new years assholes crowding our beloved gyms. There is countless stories from 1 trip to the ol’ university gym.

 1. I saw some brown stick figure trying to bench in a Lacoste polo and jeans…Seriously? Who does that…
 2. Saw a pretty big guy 1RM on deadlifts…oh yah, he was only lifting 1 plate. Fuckin guido
 3. Had a guy try to take a plate off the bar while I was stepping under the bar. As in, I was ready to unrack and squat and he thought he could use the plate.

Ect…

This thread is F’n priceless . all the years ive been trainin in me garage with me home made sq rack n bench etc i never realised what ive been missing out on (entertainment wise).never been to a commercial gym but it sounds like its worth going once a week just for crack.

My workout partner insists on benching with his feet on the bench. He also wants to always talk about the good old days when he could power clean 285lbs or was it 185lbs? Depends on the day he’s talking about it. Other than that he’s an ok partner.
I often wondered. Why put your feet on the bench or hold them in the air as if to work your abs at the same time. I see this all the time.
They say that if you put your feet up or whatever, that your pecs do more work (to balance, etc).
So people do them thinking they’ll get bigger/stronger pecs.
Sort of like how people do thumbless bench presses.

Yesterday I did some rope pull-ups.

I swung a rope over the pull-up bar and started my sets. On the final rep I hit my head in the pull-up bar and let go of the hope. As I’m going down the little knot at the end hit me in the eye and blinded me for some time.

Afterwards I got some chalk, and clapped my hands, blinding myself another time. Second time I do this actually.

I put the trap bar across the top of the squat rack so I could to neutral grip pull-ups. worked great until I got tired and started arching my back a bit. I cracked my skull off of the squat rack’s top cross beam. Just hung there, dangling a 45 off the belt watching the stars and fairies shoot around behind my eyeballs.

Ironically my gym doesn’t have a power rack, so I squat with the EZ-curls bar.

That’s cool. I don’t have a curl bar, so I just curl the squat rack.

Haha, that could’ve been me a couple months ago. I work at a college and have benched with a polo shirt and jeans before. I’ve forgotten my gym clothes and worked out in work attire. Fuck it, better than missing a workout.

So who does this? Me…the guy in the video with the fresh polo.

^How many plates were on there?!? Looked like 4 and a 10.

I’ve worked out in polo shirts many times.

I’m in Asia so really, it’s about 95% of the guys when they go to the gym here wear muscle shirts. Anything else is just not done.

Yup. 4 45xs and a 10 on each side. I once worked out in a button up shirt and cackies. Just once and it was an upper body workout. Fuck it, at least I get shit done.

Saw some dude doing this: hammer curl with a 25, stop about half way so the forearms are parallel to the floor.
Then he’d just kind of move them few inches out and then back at a relatively high speed.
Basically he looked like an energizer bunny. I lol’d.

A trainer at my gym came up to me when I was about to start benching today and said “I use dees matcheene.” Okay, it’s not a machine but whatever. I figure I’ll let her work her client in. So she proceeds to have her client do some cardio bunny complex crap on it for 8-10 minutes while not giving me an opportunity to even work in while the client is not using the barbell. Then she has her do one set, with 55lbs. Very rude. I stood 2 feet away for the most part and tried to look offended.

There are 5 other mobile benches 10 feet away in front of the DB rack - that they could have used for this crap, and not interfere with someone that needed to use the ONE bench with a barbell. Hate my gym.

Should have taken home the cardio bunny.

Last night I was in a bad fucking mood so I went for a log ass walk to clear my head. As walked past the park I saw 3 crossfitters; 2 wimpy, duechy looking guys sporting their Northface jackets, and a pretty cute girl (ITS TRUE! IT MAKES GIRLS HOTTER AND GUYS WIMPIER!) They were doing sled pulls with only 45 pounds on the sled.

I honestly felt like taking my anger out on them, but knew crossfitters aren’t worth killing and eating, let alone, going to jail over. lol

If you’re at a gym where there’s one bench with a barbell, find another gym.
