Squat Rack Curls 2011

As I mentioned briefly in my workout log, a very small man was following me around the gym last night. It was hammy day so pretty much all my exercises had my butt sticking out. He wasn’t even hiding his staring… just following me everywhere and pretending he was stretching beside me, then smiling huge when id finish a set. [/quote]

Happens to my gf too. She has this fat, middle-aged, manlet, greaseball looking turkish guy that follows her around the gym. Makes me lol so hard. She has to come over to me to make him go away.

Stupidest thing I’ve seen this year was some kid dropping a 10lb plate on his foot. :frowning:

Not a whole heap of squat rack curlers though

Not really bashing on the guy but it was just something crazy to see, this guy was doing all sorts of body weight exercises and looked like he was training for Circ DuSoleil or something, at one point he was walking around the gym on his hands dragging his legs on the ground and looked like something out of the Grudge. First time seeing someone try to do human flags though.

This was a first, yesterday on my way towards the squat rack to do squats and some guy was actually curling in it. As soon as he stepped out I started using it, didn’t have to ask if he was done since he was never using it properly in the first place.

I have recently adopted this unforgiving attitude, if you fuck around I reserve the right to take away your equipment

-Squat Rack Curlers using the bar only for 8-10 reps with Burberry Shirts/True Religion Tight-Ass Girl Jeans taking 10 minute Texting Breaks and flexing his skinny ass biceps (12") and then walking around telling people how to workout.

-Same group of buddies doing 10 sets of Bench Press each, then heading to the Bench Press Machine to do another 10 sets, then heading over to do DB Bench Press for another 10 sets.

-Old man using REALLY fucking small shorts (2 inches away from being a banana thong) who walks around with his lats(?) flared out trying to look all strong and then turns to do 20 lb. DB curls.

-Some idiot that comes trying to over-lift me on Squat/Deadlift. I am 15, he’s like 35. His eyes widen when I get to my 405 Deadlift/Squats and he’s maxing out on 225.

-A guy doing 135 Bench Press. Does 5 reps, then rounds his back so fucking much that his shoulders where the only thing touching the bench, and his father “spotting” him and yellin “Come on! You got this!”. I clearly laughed when I saw this.

-Some Trainer at that gym with a group of buddies doing 15 pound DB Curls in the ONLY Power Rack in the Gym. When I asked her to move, she did, however, I thought it was ridiculous for her to use that big fucking space.
I REALLY need to get myself out of that gym…

It would be very hard to round your back on a bench press…

Technically a no-lift, as you did it in jeans.
But otherwise, good job.

That looked like a deadlift to me, not a:

Just yankin ya…nice lift man…

I have a home gym set up with a rack an safety squat bar and my belt squat set up, but I am also a member of a health club which has several clubs around my area I can use for convenience when working, I also like the CV machines and steam room etc, anyway:

I was in the gym/ health club the other day…

I see that the power rack is vacant so I go and throw my towel over the bar and start warming up ready to do my squats (front squats I think it was that day) I see in the mirror a guy approaching me, he taps me on the shoulder so I remove my earphones and he asks in a German accent ‘how much longer?’ I am in a bit of a bad mood, this slightly irritates me and he probably saw that I just arrived so I reply a little shortly "I am just starting’ put my earphones back on and look away.

I immediately feel guilty and realize I have probably just convinced the poor guy I am another arrogant British ass hole so I walk over and say ‘what are you doing, shall we share?’ thinking a training partner for the squats will probably give me some more milage seeing as I’m not feeling great. He replies ‘biceps’. ‘Oh’ I say and go back to the rack.

I watch him in the mirror throughout his bicep workout, he starts (bearing in mind the gym has a curl machine, a preacher bench, a huge selection of dumbbells and an EZ curl bar) by loading an olympic bar and cheat curling in absolutely horrendous form.

He doesn’t stop there though… next he adds more weight and assists himself by use of his weightlifting belt, his form is so bad I honestly wonder if he even had sore biceps the next day.

He doesn’t stop there though… (bearing in mind he wanted to perform this workout in the power rack) in his final set he assists him self not only by means of his belt, but by use of lifting straps on his olympic bar cheat curls. I honestly couldn’t watch any more, I was GENUINELY envious of the robustness of this mans lower back and how he seemed to be able to avoid injury.

I… wasn’t even supposed to lift that day. I just got out of Chemistry and was fucking pissed of because, well, fuck Chemistry. So I decided to go ahead and do some lifting. I also got a 245 Bench Press that day, but I had already finished my Shoulder workout, so I know it wasn’t my best effort.

I can see why you are pissed. Chemistry sucks.

Today I did squats. When I get to the power rack, I see a guy using it. I ask how many sets he has left, and he says he just started. Of course, I asked to work in, to which he replies “I have seen you work out. You will lift a lot more than me.” That was pretty cool hearing that (not because I am stronger than him, I don’t really care) because it means that people notice that I am working hard. Maybe, I am also gaining some respect in the gym.

I have something to admit. I am one of those guys that NEVER takes off the belt. I just use it for Deadlift an Squat Day, but when I am done, I am just too lazy to take it off. Like one of the guys here said, if I get a new PR, I can do whatever I want, I have made the rack my bitch. And the Lat Pulldowns.

Today saw a guy doing decline sit ups while texting at the same time.

And so I’m not just a dick that makes fun of others, I’ve also seen regularly a female doing overhead squats and deadlifting.

Take the belt off when you dont need it. It makes you look like a douche.

Not only does it make you look like a douche, but if your belt is comfortable enough to wear around after your lift, you ain’t doing something right (I’m assuming you don’t own a lever belt)
