I went to grab the 75lb dumbbells today from the rack. Wrapped my hand around the bar, grabbed hold, pulled, and. . . absolutely nothing happened. To the point where I stepped back from the rack, laughed to myself a little bit, and looked at the dumbbell like someone had attached it to the rack somehow, since it just didn’t move.
The trash cans are right below the paper towel dispensers. I went to spit in one of the trash cans, didn’t duck far enough. . . bonked my head. . . and missed the trash can.

Saw a guy go over to the pullover machine, load the entire stack, and proceed to do… leg presses?.. with the little foot bar you press to raise the handle into position for a pullover.

Hilarious, what a f*ck-tard?! Did he not get a clue from the 3-inch r-o-m or the bar above his head that kept going backwards and forwards with every rep??!?!

I’m just going to preface this by saying that I don’t lurk here enough to know what the consensus on this site is for the use of Vibram Five Fingers shoes. So with that out of the way, my story:
I’m resting between bench sets at my school’s “fitness center” and this guy comes up to me and says, “Next time you come in here, you need to wear appropriate shoes.” I ask him what is wrong with the Vibrams I’m wearing and he tells me that “they provide no support and offer no protection if you drop a weight on your foot”. So I reply, “So tennis shoes are better? I don’t think a 45 pounder will discriminate how hard it’s going to land on my foot based on what shoes I’m wearing.” He just goes, “Well…tennis shoes offer a little more protection”, at which point I just blankly acknowledge and continue with my work sets.
The irony in all this is that right on the front counter where you have to sign in/out there’s a flyer that explicitly says that wearing tennis shoes are bad for your feet, aka the exact opposite of what this guy was trying to lecture me on.
I should’ve been a dick since he deemed it necessary to do this right as I’m in the middle of my work sets, and I’m wearing my Vibrams to the “fitness center” next time I go, so he can go fuck himself. If he calls me out on it again I’ll just point him to his safety flyer at the desk and tell him to read the first point.
Well my gym here in the desert is pretty small so options are limited… so to justify doing curls in the squat rack (which is hardly used by fat army guys) I call them Arm Squats.

I saw some brown stick figure trying to bench in a Lacoste polo and jeans…Seriously? Who does that…

Had a guy try to take a plate off the bar while I was stepping under the bar. As in, I was ready to unrack and squat and he thought he could use the plate.

I’m with you, I love my Vibrams
I’ve got a point though right? I mean if this guy wasn’t the director of the facility I woulda told him to go fuck fuckself, so now I have to search through the wide world of the internetz to prove that vibrams actually are better for your feet than tennis shoes to lift in.
So far this year there has been a lot of crappy ROM in my gym but it’s been played out so I don’t post much anymore. But yesterday there was a guy was on the flat bench next to me with 30# dumb bells. He was flutter kicking while doing a cross between a fly and a press at the same time. It was my WTF moment for the day.
I just had to go back and edit several mistakes. I typed this when I was barely awake.

Squat Rack Curls are justified at times I think.
My gym has gone 4 days with no one even using the rack it’s that bad. I could tell because on a Friday there was a guy doing curls with the bar, a 5 and a 2.5 on each side, while standing on a 25 under each foot ( for some unknown reason).
I came back to they gym on the Tuesday and the same weight was on that bar and the 25s were still there on the floor.
If your gym is a fuck-hole then fuck it all and curl in it if you like. I do. Sometimes.

I always just tell people that wearing shoes is like wearing an arm cast at 90 degrees for how ever many years you deem appropriate to get the point across, when the cast comes off you’re left with an arm that is weak, immobile, and just not useful for anything other than beating people over the head with.
Some challenged guy likes to give unwanted spot to everyone in the
Gym. Squat, flies, bench, chin up,… You name it. Usually he lift only one side/dumbell.

Funny you should say that. Today I was doing 4x9 as part of the Smolov workout, and out of nowhere this guy randomly comes in to spot me. He touches me on my back and as I’m going up I just say “DON’T TOUCH ME”

I recommend watching the actions of that dude for the entire video, he’s appears to be quite the douche.

I’ve got to give you some props for 1) finishing your set 2) not exploding on him after you finished the set.
I’ve got to ask though… with a douche that bad… was this video a setup?

I love that right before he comes to spot you he does a random set of curls ON THE SQUAT RACK
