Sprints For Power (Experts Wanted)

I think this is a major flaw in a lot of programs around this country. Sprint training and strength training are the neural inverse. Are you sure you want to mix and match those elements in the same work out?? No matter how fast you lift, it doesn?t even scratch the surface of the speed of contraction when sprinting. Please be careful when doing this.

We have done slower acting plyo work with sprints or fast acting plyos with strength but never the extremes of both at the same time. You would be confusing the nervous system in my opinion. Again strength training like squats would teach antagonistic firing where speed training you want complete relaxation?? That?s a recipe for an injury?.confusing the system.

Mike~

What are you adding sprints for? I was assuming you were training for strength, not for being fast…no?

When I mentioned sled pulling, I meant Westside style, not speed oriented. But, that was assuming strength was goal, not speed.

If speed is the goal, then Korfist is dead on. I use sleds with my team sports athletes in both methods, but for speed the weight is very light… very. Mostly use it to really help them understand drive phase better. The angle is slightly deeper when they accelerate with a sled…

Anyway, good luck.

Korfist~

Pleased you all are finally releasing some new information. Appreciate it.

Question: How do you do your toe crampers? I do ankle crampers seated and standing… you?

Thanks.
