Spreadsheet for Calories!

I suggest everyone create a spreadsheet for their daily intake of calories.

I have been monitoring my calories after coming off of the V-Diet and I’ve notived it is easy to mess up and either eat too much of one macro and too little of another. I feel I am very good at judging the breakdown of foods but it wasn’t til I created a spreadsheet that I noticed how far off I would be from my target!

It’s easy, just plug in your food, calories and macros with types of fats once and then you just need to put the # of servings in…

Pain in the arse at the begining but well worth the work.

Eh…I use Fitday. Easier, since it totals all the calories, etc.

I did the same thing for the first time now that Im on the GSD, really made me understand about what I thought was eating low cal versus actually doing it.

I don’t like that FitDay won’t let you break down your intake into ‘Meals’ but instead just all the items consumed in the day.

I know it sounds nitpicky but it’s annoying that I can’t tell what set of foods was part of what meal.

Or maybe I don’t know how to use FitDay?

Well I take in a lot of calories that aren’t listed so I like just using excel but those are great too…

PonceDeLeon,

Actually, try this in FitDay:
View → Current View → Group By Meals

Here is the screenshot. To look at it in its natural size, right-click on it and click Save Image.

In fact, FitDay saves me a lot of time. After using it for about a week it has become just copying and pasting (if you have your meals prepared in advance, of course  ). It shows some other useful information, like breakdown of fats etc.

Same here. I just cut and paste, since my diet doesn’t deviate that much. Although, whenever I add something new or something my mom cooks it’s a bit of a pain figuring out what to input.

I use the facebook application called “My Diet”. Works like a charm.

Cool!

I had the same complaint as Ponce and I would never have figured that out!

Actually i was also very disappointed by the fact that it was not available by default. By i thought, that it just must be there! So i started looking for it.

The program has an ability to create reports, but the feature it lacks is the ability to count how much grams of each food you consume during a given amount of time. This would help creating grocery lists just lovely.

echoing, I use FitDay also. But since I have a Mac, I have to use FitDay on the web, since their desktop application is not compatible.

I downloaded the app, but your goal weight has to be lower than your start weight…not very helpful for bodybuilders.

Who cares? It calculates nutritional intake along with daily expenditure. You consider it useless just because you can’t tell it you want to gain weight? As long as you don’t get hurt feelings whenever you get a nasty automatic message saying, “Ok, lardy…how the heck did you do to screw up this time?” whenever you add more weight to the ticker, you’ll be fine. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is that feature also in the web application? Or do I have to download a program?

Fair enough. Although, it would be nice if they tailored it to bodybuilders too.

Tonino,

never used the web version of it, so not sure if it is available there… just check it.
