Sports Trainer

Hi, i am 18 years old. Love the game of basketball and everything that comes along with it. Ive also developed a passion for learning to become faster, stronger… and everything in between. I was unsure of what i wanted to pursue as a career in life, mostly dwelled on basketball, but now i realize i need more.

I plan on going back to school for my first year of university probably next year for Kinesiology, I have ambitions of becoming a Sports trainer for serious athletes. More like Tim Grover. My idol in this case would be him, he’s is what i would love to model my career like.

What do i need to be doing to reach my goal of following in the footsteps of Mr. Grover? please be specific. I already learn all i can through articles, books, forums like this, magazines…and yes i also do the training myself, as i am also a serious athlete. Please give me all your insight and any tips on helping me reach this goal. Thank You.

I would be interseted as well

I don’t know anything about it but it sounds like you’re on the right track. I know if you go to a big D-1 school you’ll probably be able to work with the athletes as a student. Like anything else just build connections there, get your degree, get certified, and start contacting pro teams and such. Maybe try to get a job with one of the big trainers that are already established to get your name out.

Damn paper cuts.

Get an internship with a school’s strength and conditioning department. Move whereever you have to. I learned more in a year internship then I did in all my 10 years prior of reading and training. Buy Supertraining by Mel Siff, go through it highlight improtant stuff, then reread the highlighted stuff again and again. Make sure the school you go to isn’t HIT school, go buy a issue of lfex or muscle and fiction for that.
