Sports Supplements Review

Hi guys,

I am looking for a book that will explain me the functions of the most used supplements in sports…especially in bodybuilding. (Also, description, ingr?dients etc…)

Consequently, I found a book called “Sports supplements review” by andrich but the last issue (4th) was released in 2001…Do you think it still worth the price or the information inside are outdated?

Thanks

Save yourself the money. There is enough information here, (and not just by the forum posters) to fill the capacity of 100 books, especially on the topic you specified…

that being said, a book titled “the Encyclopedia of Nutritonal Supplements” contains almost every supplement i’ve ever heard and some i haven’t. if you still would like to have a book. i’d go this route… but let me reiterate, with the sheer mass of information on this site, i just dont see the necessity of paying for something you would get for free.

Don’t get Andrich’s book. Very outdated by now (three years is a LONG time in the supplement world). And besides, he was funded by, and is therefor biased for, an unreputible company that most us us who have been around here for awhile don’t like anymore. AND when it first came out, they were giving it out for free, so don’t pay for it now.

Thanks a lot for your advices guys,…cause I was really about to buy the book soon…

The thing is…I have been training for more than 3 years now…so I have all the basics knowledge about training and much more since im reading the stuff on T-mag…but I’m still a newbie regarding supplements…I am not sure about which supplements to use for a specific goal and the effects of differents supplements…so thats why I am looking for a book that will give me a good description of the most popular supplements on the market.

Furthermore, there is so much supplements on the market…thats very easy to get lost…

Any more advices about this?

Yea, there’s a TON of supps out there to choose from. But once you break them down by category it’s alot easier to make choices.

-Pohormones (most soon to be banned)
-Testosterone boosters (tribulus ect…)
-Ergogenic aids (creatine)
-Recovery agents (post wo shakes, antioxidants, glutamine, ect…)
-Protein powders
-Vitamin/Minerals
-EFA’s (flax, fish, CLA, ect…)
-Sleep aids (melatonin, ZMA, ect…)

Don’t get caught up in buying duel use supplements, ex: the protein powders that also contain creatine. It’s ALWAYS going to be cheaper in the long run to just buy the items sepparately. In my experience, the only poeple who buy these do so because they don’t know any better. Grow! is cheap(now) and so is plain ol’ creatine powder.
