Awesome!! does happy dance
Even more hurrahs today! Worked up to a heavy single squat of 320(!) with the coach. It’s amazing what you can do when you have supportive, knowledgeable people behind you. Also hit 185 in a tighter bench shirt. Finished off with a couple of sets of light good mornings. Video to come!

That was amazing to watch. The socks totally rock and the lift was nice too ![]()
I can hardly wait to see the squat and bench.

Nice job and great speed off the floor!

Very much on the edge of depth - could depend on the judges, and should probably work harder on making depth to be safe. The hardest part is getting down - once I hit depth, popping up is easy peasy. Love it!
Current total, with all PRs, is 855, which, if I make all lifts, qualifies me at the 165 and 181 classes. Saweet.
wow! you’ve added like 45lbs to your squat in almost two weeks!!! ![]()

Yeah, it’s sick. I think I always had a pretty decent raw squat, but learning how to do it in this suit has been pretty humbling. I think it clicked yesterday!

Your squat looked awesome! Knees track forward a little bit, but if you’re stance isn’t very wide that’ll happen, way to push your hips back hard from the start. Keep it up, numbers look really good. Gear squatting can be the most exciting thing in the world when you handle big weight, but then again when you realize that all those years of squatting went out the window and you’re starting from scratch it definitely humbles you.
Way to stick with it, keep sitting back harder and you’ll get even more pop out of it. Is that a sinlge ply Viking??? Thinking about switching over to a single ply cycle myself…

Thanks! It’s a single ply Metal King sumo DL suit. I haven’t gotten my own equipment yet, so I’m stealing what my coach has. His squat suits are too tight on my thighs - at least the first time I tried them on they were - so I’ve been squatting in the DL suit.
I’m ordering a custom squat suit, but I won’t get it in time for my next meet. I really like the Metal for DLing, so I might just get one of them for myself.
Tuesday:
Bench for speed, 95 x 10 sets of 3 reps
Pulldowns 13x108, 13x96, 13x108 (108 was heavy, 96 was light…damn big jumps on the gym’s equipment)
Press 15x65, 12x65
Row 3x10x115
Decline TE (crushers again): 3x10x50
Curls: 3x7x55
Incline situps - 18, 18
10 minutes farmer’s carries with 45lb plates.
Got an awesome pump this workout, I felt like Arnie in Pumping Iron. Left shoulder is hurting a bit. I usually sleep on the left and couldn’t last night. I’ll just be careful with it.
Wednesday - light squats
With suit and belt
8 sets x 3x135, fast and deep. I took one video of these, and notice that I definitely do track the knees forward right at the bottom - it’s like I hit the bottom of the suit and then move my knees to try to get deeper. I’m working on spreading the knees and the floor…we shall see!
Single leg calf press: 6x10/leg
Glute Ham raise: 5x5 - I felt like I couldn’t go as far down on the negative with these. Sometimes workouts are just weird.
Back hyper: 3x10 holding 30lb DB at front of neck
Adductor: 3x15x150
Side band walks, 3x20/side with heavy blue tubing tied above knees
Hanging leg lifts: 3x10

That was a damn sweet squat! Very nice.
Thanks, y’all. I was excited until the hubby noted that my calves are as big as my coach’s. ![]()

I don’t see the problem with that but that’s just me. I’m very inspired seeing your videos, cool socks, big calves and whatever.

I’m with O… not to mention I think your coach has little calves
(Says the girl with massive calves herself)
