Spin the Black Circle

More heavy lifting with the coach this morning.

Because I was so tired by the time we got to DL last time, we started with it. It didn’t seem to help. I think I only got up to 335 or so. 350 wouldn’t budge.

Bench - working on setting an opener. It’s a fine balance between light enough to make sure not to bomb and heavy enough to touch. We’re thinking around 193. I’m having a problem where the soles of my shoes are not completely flat, and we are concerned I might get redlighted for this. We’re going to try different shoes.

Squat - worked up to 360. Depth is a little weak, but the weights themselves are light once I get walked out and set up.

Coach gave me a pair of squat shoes that don’t fit him. They will apparently match this year’s team T-shirts. I am stylin’!

I didn’t you had a log; what type of PL training do you follow if any, and what gear do you use?

Yep; it’s nice to keep a log over here instead of on the Training Logs forum - that place is waaaay too active and I’d lose myself! I keep it mainly for accountability and to let my coach know what I am doing when I am not training with him.

Speaking of which - Ron - I’m tired. :stuck_out_tongue:

I do whatever the coach tells me to do; I think it is based on WS, but I really don’t know enough about those sorts of things to tell you definitively.

I started using equipment late last year. I’m currently squatting and deadlifting in a Metal King Sumo deadlifter, and benching in an F6. I have a Centurion squatter, but I can’t get it up my massive thighs yet. I’m buying a bigger Centurion off one of the folks on here - we’ll see if I can alter it enough up top to make it usable for me. I use Inzer wraps.

I’ve got USAPL Women’s Nationals in about three weeks.

Yay, got the new Centurion and bonus knee wraps just now! I closed my office door, stripped, and tried it on. Yes, you know I really did. It is definitely loose, but should be nice for training. It fits the thighs, haha. I think I will see about getting the straps shortened a little bit to tighten it up when I am in the hole.

Wraps! I am such a dork to be this excited.

Naa… I am just as bad.

That’s hawt… :stuck_out_tongue:

For sure you are a dork. I only know that because when my Centurion came in the mail I started stripping just inside the front door. How do you score bonus knee wraps? Have you used them yet? Those are the THP ones right? If you’ve used them, do you find them to be better?

I haven’t used them yet. I bought the suit off Tim Henriques - you may recall he was getting rid of several items a few weeks ago. He threw in the wraps because he’s a cool guy. They are the THPs.

I wrapped my right knee, as shown in the picture, and didn’t even thread the end through and pull it tight. When I let the wrap go, I had the fabric indents all over the leg like I normally only get after actually squatting. They felt very tight and I am VERY excited to use them.

I now have four sets of wraps - two red/black Inzers, the blue/black Titaniums, and these. I was planning on doing Inzer/Inzer/Titanium at the meet, but I think I will try these with the coach next week and see how they are.

Let me know how they work for you. The only ones I have are blue/black from APT. They were my starter wraps and were the most appropriate for what I was squatting at the time. Now that I’m moving more weight with the Centurion and hope to push closer to 300, I want the big girl wraps.

I may also investigate getting a life. I’ve spent a fair bit of time at work this morning researching peaking cycles. Don’t tell anyone

Have you tried the new wraps yet? Court and I were talking about them yesterday morning and we both have wrap envy.

I have a cheque made out for a new pair but I want to see if you found a significant difference first. Included in my order for new wraps is an order for a life as well. Seems like I don’t have one if I devote this much head space to someone else’s gear.

I will try them out on Wednesday morning when I go heavy with the coach.

I had workouts this weekend, and I will update my log later today. I was too distracted by the gorgeous boy with the massive calves yesterday to pay attention to what I was doing.

Friday - Squats and Deads:

I was supposed to squat first, but there was a dude in the rack doing chinups and he wasn’t interested in moving. Yes, I even asked. Yes, we have three other places you can chin.

Deadlifts, in 46 suit:
2x5x135, 3x225, 5x1x250 (straps up, belt tight). I was able to get down to the bar with everything cinched up pretty well. The suit has definitely loosed up. I get my left hand on the bar, suck in more air, pull my right hand down, tuck my shoulders together, and rip it.

I definitely feel like my upper back is a weak area with DLs. After last Wednesday, it was the sorest part of my body.

Squats - no wraps, suit 46, straps up, belt cinched. Six sets of three reps, fast, at 185. I took video of most of these (as well as the DLs) and while they were all a little bit high/borderline, I was pleased because after all, I only had 185 on the bar. I then did two sets of three with 185 wearing the coach’s hand-me-down shoes and the new Centurion. The shoes felt pretty good - I liked the arches. The Centurion rode up my thighs a good deal, so I definitely want to shorten the straps.

GHRs - 5x5

Hanging leg lifts - 3x10

Saturday - bench:

5x95, 2x3x135 full ROM
3x4x185, four board (a/k/a yoga block strapped to chest)

These felt really good, considering I didn’t have chalk for my hands and the bar was a bit slippy, and I had to unrack everything myself.

45 degree pullups - 30, 2x10

20 minutes moderate on the arc trainer

Sunday - cardio:

12 minutes farmer walks with 45 lb plates
6x10 45 lb plate swings
20 minutes moderate bike

Hi!

Never mind me; I was just poking my nose in here to see if ourbouro_s was over here talking about beating somebody’s ass. I think her kids must be slipping gunpowder into her food because she’s been on quite a tear lately. Seems like she’s about ready to WHALE on about half of Canada!!

No. I’m just harassing her about her new wraps. I’m kind of like a little kid.

“Have you tried them yet??? How about now? Now?”

“What about now???”

Well, I tried the new wraps with the coach this morning. We did four heavy singles, and used the THP on the third, with (I think) 350.

Halfway down, I was hollering OUCH! Those things are ROUGH but I like em. Coach has a pair that are much, much softer, but he thought they might’ve come that way. I will definitely use them more, but they are quite abrasive.

Alright, so we squatted up to 370 today, and 370 felt great - I’m getting better at walking it out, I think, which is a weakness of mine. I need to feel strong to start. Also, my depth is borderline, so if they are calling it strict, I will have to work on getting that extra stretch down.

Benching - got up to 200 or 205 ish, and my left arm hurt. We’re probably going to be pretty conservative with my bench attempts at the meet, since bombing isn’t something I want to do.

Deadlifting - got 360 up with relative ease, after 350 wouldn’t budge last week. It’s weird, how much the mental game affects the lifts.

Thanks for the THP update. Do you think they helped much out of the hole? I’m okay with the pain.

FWIW, I’ve been stalking your log waiting for the info.

I will have to try them again, planning to on Saturday. I like the blue/blacks best, I think, but the pain from the THPs was so great that I didn’t notice even hitting the hole.

I will update accordingly.

I appreciate your log stalking. It’s much nicer than having no viewers. And I don’t have WxHerk hanging on my every word like you do…

I got pain from my blue/blacks last night… they seemed to be rubbing my legs raw… I was also interested in the THP experience, though I wasn’t hitting refresh every 5 seconds on your log like O.

And as for WxHerk…no kidding… they need to get a room

Guess who just got a new "biggest fan . . . "

EDIT:

Ho-LEE Cow, that sounds creepy! I normally would leave a comment like that alone and let everyone catch the joking tone themselves but something like that needs a "HEY!! I’m only kidding" disclaimer . . . . .
