Listen to your girlfriend! Dont eat soy and dont drink milk…you are lactose intolerant my friend. If you are going to consume dairy, try something that is lactose free and/or has been predigested by good bacteria, ie kefir or you can probably do whey.

Yes. Do a search.

ok… searched it on google and yahoo.
i got good and bad!
this stuff is confusing.
it says that it stops male pattern baldness , then one website said that there’s estrogen mimicking stuff on it.

how do i know which ones to believe?

Why are ya’ll wrangling with this stupid false dilemma? Soy and milk aren’t the only protein sources out there. Eat a steak or some eggs for chrissakes.

T-Nation has written at least a dozen articles on this topic:

Here’s just one:

The overwhelming consensus among T-Nation staff is that you don’t want to get near soy protein powders.

Soy milk, occasionally, is probably okay, as long as you’re not drinking huge amounts.

best girlfriend ever

Indded! But she is also self-interested…doesn’t want an estrogen dominant male and the, er, slump that could be a result. And, she wants to continue to be the one one that cries at
syrupy chick flix

Add to all of that the fact that soy is NOT a complete protein and WILL NOT support muscle gains/growth.

Uhhh… SOy is a very complete protein…
I learned so in biology class

While I have heard from many sources that eating soy lowers testosterone, you definetly do not want to take wikipedia’s word for it…

Wikipedia is written by people like you and me…
Anything that is on there isnt fact

Great article! Thanks. This is a must read for every human being.

rice milk, almond milk = solution?

ok guys, i have a question…
the reason i started to drink soy is cuz when i drink milk i get stomach ache.

but, i started to drink milk again and i don’t get the aches anymore.
it’s only when i drink skim milk that i get a bad stomach pain. when i drink 2% its fine…

What gives?

Well I only heard this from an ‘expert’ on the news (commenting on this article http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/dem019v1 ) but apparently skim milk has additives or there’s chemicals used in the process of removing fats that can contain traces of other food products.

Do you have any other food problems that may be linked?

Sorry about the lack of detail but I was only half listening at the start and missed part of it - I also can’t find any sources to back this claim up so I guess it’s kinda conjecture at the moment.
Anyone who can confirm or reject this info is more than welcome to comment.

If you think you are lactose intolerant try Lactaid pills before you drink milk or drink Lactaid milk. There might be other brands, I don’t know, but I am lactose intolerant and I use the Lactaid products. They pre-digest the lactose, or in the case of the pills, they provide you with the lactase enzyme. I don’t have any problems when I use these.
