20 year old kills two troopers at point-blank range, because they were trying to arrest his father on warrants.
“Sovereign Citizens” seem to be an ongoing problem in Alaska: “Five Arrested in Alleged Plot to Kill Alaska State Troopers, Judge” (2011)
I bet we’ll be seeing a lot more stories like this in the news. I hope Federal law enforcement agencies around the US are taking the threat of these delusional “Sovereign Citizen” nutjobs seriously. We don’t need any more Timothy McVeighs.
These people are bat-shit crazy. A lot of them are squatters and losers trying to avoid paying debts, bills, fees, taxes, and child support. They don’t feel the courts or laws apply to them until they use the law or courts to further their interests. Some of them are violent, but most of them give up the Freeloader on the Land lifestyle after they realize this shit doesn’t hold up.
I get the feeling there’s a couple of ‘Constitutionalists’ posting here.
‘Sovereign Citizen’ Tax Schemes Land True Believers in Prison
Most experts trace the roots of modern day sovereigns to the white supremacist Posse Comitatus movement of the 1970s, which recognized no government higher than the county and believed that the county sheriff had ultimate authority.
…
In a 2011 bulletin, the FBI labeled sovereigns a ‘domestic terrorist movement,’ which may explain why so many adherents are now quick to disparage the term ‘sovereign citizen.’
‘You’re going to find that (the sovereign designation) is going away,’ said Lee Bishop of Eureka. ‘Nobody wants to be labeled a domestic terrorist.’
Bishop describes himself as a constitutionalist and prefers to think of the movement as an ‘awakening of people.’
When they get pulled out for a traffic violation, they will refused to produce a driver’s license or say they are not required since they are “not engaged in commercial travel”. I have always loved that one.
I don’t debate them. Just take them serious and deal with them accordingly.

I wouldn’t really consider them the dangerous ones. The ones you need to worry about are the very intelligent ones who know how to play the system and set things into motion for some really bad shit. Not this nuts that take stupid to another level by trying to take on the powers that be at their own game and thumbing their nose just to make an asshat out of themselves.
^ Actually many White Supremists have splintered off into this movement in an effort to try to “legitimize” themselves. They can be plenty dangerous. I know a guy that I work with that got attacked by two of them. I know the movement draws a collection of characters, but I’m weary of anyone who claims to be one of them.

Thankfully my dealing have been few.
I’ve noticed the same. It’s not in vogue right now to be a white racist, but being a radical, anti-government, lunatic seems to be less of a faux pas.

Indeed. It’s not that racists can’t have racist ideas any more… they have to avoid getting the racist label because they slipped up and used “the N word” etc. Don’t be an obvious racist, that’s what the bottom line is. Racist ideas have to be cloaked under the guise of “states’ rights” and “strict constitutional agendas”, etc.
Only a few hundred delusional sad-sacks showed up at last weekend’s ‘Operation American Spring’ march on Washington. The organizers predicted 10 to 30 million, LOL.
