Sour Grapes and The Under 200 Crowd

This is an awesome post. 200 lbs + = RESPECT. Crush shit! Eat grapes! Chicks are into big stuff. Like big FONTS. I hate these little faggy 8-point Arial fonts. I mean, why don’t you just let me bone your girlfriend if you’re going to use that little shit. GET BIG!

I’m into BIG ass Haettenschweiler 14-point bold. Women come up to me, rub the paper, they’re like “Yeah—that’s some big font. You can barely fit 8 words on the page” And I’m nodding, y’know with that smirk that says: “Yeah–you KNOW I’m all about the Haettenschweiler, 14 point (pause for effect) BOLD” I know she wants me.

I almost feel bad for these little foxes jumping up and down trying to eat some sour grapes with their little font and walking on the other side of the street when they see my lean two fifteen (yeah–that shit rhymes)

Word to ya mother

Exactly. The point of this post was to examine why people are making that claim. I contend that people make that claim because, being unable to achive any real success in the weight room, they have to rationalize away their failures by saying, “Being big sucks!” Hence, why I mentioned the fable.

That is what is truly mind boggling. I just can’t believe guys are sitting around truly believing that larger muscles are so much of a turn off that a woman will disregard overall looks, body shape, career, vehicle driven and potential money earned and run screaming from any guy with 20" arms. Anyone who believes that shit is a true dumbass.

I think there are only about 8-9 of us left on this site that could give a shit what affect our physique may or may not have on the opposite sex.

Granted - I’ve been married for 15 years, but I get way more attention now than I ever did the first 9 years of my marraige.

I don’t necessarily think it has that much to do with my increase in size, other than it makes me feel better about myself, and that confidence is what interests the opposite sex.

But what the hell do I know?

I know from the responses I get from some of the women we treat as patients and some of the staff that it apparently doesn’t turn that many women off.

While the OP may have started this thread in the most cheesy way possible, his overall premise isn’t that off at all. I just don’t feel the need to say that skinny guys can’t get laid. It serves no purpose. It does make you wonder why smaller guys would need to convince themselves of the opposite, however.

The whole “dumb meathead” stereotype aside, I think that lifting weights at all is a positive thing- if nothing else, it shows some respect for yourself, and that you can stay dedicated to something long enough to see results.

I also have not seen women run away because a guy is “too big” any more than I have because they’re “too rich”. I’m just of the opinion that personality will matter much more any time one is going after a woman.

Best thing on thread. Some guys are confident without lifting. I don’t think I would be as confident at 140 pounds as I am at 175, and I think that only increases as I get thicker.

Some folks aren’t like that, but I am. It defintely has influenced my personality, and I can imagine it’s done the same for the much bigger guys like you or the Prof.

What do you mean? I thought women hated rich and successful guys too.

I agree 100% that personality and confidence works better than just about anything else, depending on the woman of course.

Rock on Prof!!

Its the same thing in the drumming community…all these slow drummers complain that its not just about the speed which I can understand up to a point but then go to a clinic and then see some drummer do a fast roll or whatever and the crowd goes crazy. The reaction always remains whether one will admit to it or not; fast is interesting among monotonous unchallenging rhythms just as BIG reigns among boring extra medium wearing trolls.
I love speed (not the drug)and the challenges and the time that has to be put in to achieve it; it definitely earns respect from some in the extreme metal genre. Unfortunately, most drummers do not or will not admit to admiring a player who can blaze with their hands and feet. As long as the music doesn’t suffer then great but give credit where it is due. I forgot where I heard the quote but it is definitely easier to lose muscle than it is to gain especially if one is really active outside the weightroom and I definitely give respect to the BIG lifters!

Whatever, let the guy have his proud moment. I’d consider 200 pounds big if that guy worked his ass off inch by inch from an original 140 pounds. But if you started out at 180, then it’s not really a big deal.

Nipples on Batman. What the hell were they thinking?

[quote]Footsolider88 wrote:

Best analogy in the thread!!!

Finally someone has come to realize it’s not about penis size, richness, personality, looks, lean or fat, tall or short, manners, taste, color of teeth, car, etc. It really about how fast you can drum roll. Drrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

This guy is a total idiot. Everyone knows you have to be at least 201lbs to be “big”.

Then you can say it to yourself aloud. Alone.

This is a PUBLIC FORUM. With emphasis on PUBLIC.

I still want to know how 200 pounds can be considered big. Some people hit 200 pounds before they hit highschool. Next time yall open your mouth it should be to eat, not to talk.

i get the feeling like im never growing but i thinkt thats just because you see yourself everyday…to other people i bet we look bigger then we percieve ourselfs to be

That’s why you should buy new mirrors in your house once in awhile.

The old ones warp.

Take a lot of pictures and keep a log of your weight and BF% it helps.

Ugggh…

These types of threads get old fast. A simple premise created in a goofy manner turns into a five page flame war about how funny a stupid joke is and how we all, yes all, basically agree yet are arguing just for the hell of it.

The fact of the matter is- no one is ever happy with themselves. They could be 180lbs ripped, or 280lbs ripped and they still won’t be happy. So the 200lb mark is nothing without self-confidence, as others have suggested. Even then that isn’t enough. The grass is always greener on the other side. Fat people want to be skinny, tall people want to be shorter, short people want to be taller, etc. So CLaw is right. When something looks too difficult to attain, people condemn it instead of admitting they just can’t hack it.
