Does anybody else hate this guy as much as I do?

This guy doesn’t even belong saying Nas’ name.

Soulja Boy tried to kill hip hop and almost succeeded. End of story.
Wait, people listen to Soulja Boy? Really?
LOL @ you guys!

x2
Did Soulja Boy even make more than one song?
There are no more classic songs being made anymore. Its all one-hit wonders that are forgotten within three weeks (many of which, btw, should have never been).
It’s all this Soulja Boy, MIMS - This Is Why I’m Hot, Laffy Taffy bullshit that is killing hip-hop.
I can hardly understand a fucking word that guy is saying. Might as well be speaking another language. But seriously, Soulja Boy knows he’s just another 15 minutes of fame guy, and the only way to stay on the public radar is to say things like that.

I agree. The trouble is that most young kids have no clue about the foundation of Hip Hop. It’s become commercial now with a lack of true art form. I don’t believe hip hop is dead it just has no depth anymore. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Nas and a few others still write with passion and meaning.
Rap used to be all about message or having a good time- ie Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions etc. Hip Hop is still alive but needs somebody to come back to save it. What artist will it be?
I don’t like Soulja but one thing he said was true. Nobody was saying the phrase “hip hop is dead” until NAS spoke the words.
Music as a whole has gone to shit. How many people recently (past 5 years) have more than one album anyone remembers?
Its all 1 hit wonder BS.
Soulja Boy is POP like the rest of this crap. Its not anything else b/c they simply are a flash in the pan. Same as boy bands, just a different selling point.

Good point.
I agree about the modern rap and hip hop being shit.
I do miss the old days of rap (although I was still really young); they did have the best songs.
At least A Perfect Circle and Tool will have new material coming around the corner.

What!?
but does nas bust his guns?- young jeezy
Face it nas is irrelevant and has been for a long time, nas tried to become relevant by naming his last two albums hip hop is dead and ni**ger. He still puts out decent music but you can compare him with soulja boy as he’s pulled similar stunts. There obviously a market for soulja boys music and he is supplying a product, basic economics.
It’s all fucking noise.
New classic music? All they do is sample classic music and rap over it about the same old tired shit.

Yeah, that’s what this local radio gal said a week or two ago. She said Maynard was talking with the rest of APC about more material, and that the plan was to get new Tool stuff going at some point as well.
Music as a whole is dead in the mainstream. Considering the vast majority has its only exposure to hip-hop on the radio, this genre is particularly susceptible. Even the hip-hop station here rarely plays anything good. The solution? Turn it off.

Sounds like you’re ready to be introduced to some Little Brother. Google 'em…you might surprise yourself. On a serious note, the elements you listed above are what are keeping people from experiencing good hip-hop music from good artists…of course that is contingent on if you like hip-hop in the first place.

To be honest, I do like some, but mainly older stuff, like Public Enemy, NWA and Tupac. They came out at a came that I could relate to them. I am really into lyrics, and I can’t relate to most of this new stuff. Shit man, I’m 44.

I can understand that…but seriously do a little search on Little Brother,9th Wonder if you want lyrics and good “non-pop” music production…and a sense of humor.

Ahh…ok…you meant “new” material.Cool…but I hope any new Tool stuff will make me forget this recent album.
