Sopranos Countdown

Good take on it, IMO!

All I know is my arms were numb the entire final scene. I thought for sure he was getting whacked. But your synopsis… well, it’s definitely in depth.

I’ll be honest, I hope they leave it just like that. No movies, etc. And this coming from a faithful avid Sopranos fan. I like the idea that it’s left open for us to decide / debate. And an answer will never be heard.

Phil got whacked. So did Tony.

In the first episode this season he and Bobby were talking about what it was like to get shot out on the lake in the boat. They agreed when it happens you don’t hear it coming and it just fades to black.

The guy who got up to go to the restroom was the shooter. When Meadow came in she looked shocked. Tony was looking at her and didn’t see the bullet that got him…then it faded to black.

Also the title of the Episode was “American Made”. Phil was killed when he got out of his Ford truck and then it ran over him. Ford - found on road dead.(Phil)

Maybe I’m over thinking it…

It was stupid. This show lost it years ago.

Wow. Deep.

You don’t have a clue do you? People that watched Sopranos purely for the hits are like people that watch hockey purely for the fights. If that’s all you like, great. But when you don’t follow it for what it really is, that’s your problem.

I got into it at the end of the second season and I have to agree with tom63. This was my favorite show on TV but the last season turned it into a joke. The finale was…ok, but it doesn’t make up for the 5 absolute turds that came before it.

Here is some food for thought…

"The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn’t that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil’s brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. Absolutely genius!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.

So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).

Absolutely incredible!!! There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase’s way of proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite that he would like it to “don’t stop.” Not the fans!!! Tony would like it to keep going but just as we have to say goodbye, so does he. No more Tony and I guess we are supposed to be happy that Meadow didn’t get clipped as well (she would have been between the shooter and Tony) since she is the only one worth a crap in that family."

WOW. I follow a lot of the details, but I did not notice this at all. Thank God for TiVo!

Great points and I also agree with Scotty144 take on it as well. The writing is in the details I myself am a fan but I do not watch with the every close eye and intensity as most avid fans do. If you take a look at how Chase decided to use the camera shots he was telling everyone exactly what had happen, boom over.

Also if you notice that before Tony walks into the restaurant he is looking at himself setting down from third person, did anyone else notice this. Not only this but look where the Journey songs stop at after he says “Don’t Stop”.

I knew to pay attention to the trucker who I vaguely remember, the Italian guy who goes to the bathroom who was apparently linked to Leotardo and the 2 black guys who tried to kill Tony in that failed attempt. As said better above it was Tony being inable to escape all of his past.

I found the close up of the song selections telling to…but I don’t have enough brain power right now to figure it out lol.

A nice try by somebody, but most of this is not true.

The one that explains the ending was “Anything You Want”.

It could not have ended any better.
Are you kidding? It could not have ended any worse.

Holy crap…Good Catches Scotty!

it sucked 8 fucking years for that crap …
brunottfn wrote:

If it sucked for 8 years, then why did you watch?

Was the Russian dude that escaped from Paulie and Christopher, in the kitchen jerking off on Tony’s onion rings, too?

Apparently you have to be devoted to the Sopranos the way nerds are devoted to Star Wars and Monty Python.

All they needed was the cat talking to a dead fish to really wrap shit up.

I thought that it sucked cock. Not only did I get my brains blown out, but then my head got run over by a truck :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously… I thought that the ending was weird. When I lose my digital cable, my t.v. goes black like the end of that episode and for a minute I thought that was what happened. I am curious if Phil’s relative was really in the bar though.

It’s not deep, it’s a mob show. It was once unique because they showed the interaction and dichotomy between the mob life and your family responsibilities.

Tony balancing his family issues with the standard parts of mob life made it interesting.

It’s not an art film. You shouldn’t have to think about cheap ass film techniques looking for a wow do you believe that. All you need is some good writing, which this show lacked for at least two seasons.
