Something I Think Everyone Should Do

how is x’s advice anything special?

LOL…because you start threads like this.

People READ here…so it doesn’t just matter how good you look but also how well you get a point across along with your knowledge base and experience.

Kind of strange you needed to be told that.

Most of the people come here to be around other serious lifters. This has changed lately due to the appearance of this popularity contest.

It doesn’t fucking matter if you competed. What matters is your overall progress and whether what you write is actually helping other people make more progress also.

Life experience matters here…and no, the goal is not to agree with everyone on everything.

My advice isn’t “special”.

Maybe I just am.

You’re a special, unique snowflake X. And don’t you forget it!

Classic Prof X “debating” tactics… He will:

  1. Ignore what was actually written.
  2. Question the reading comprehension of anyone who doesn’t agree with him.
  3. Go off on a rant while saying “some of you/many here/etc…” in order to avoid directly addressing anyone specific.
  4. Repeatedly quote the few who agree with him as proof that he is correct and say “good post” & “great points.”
  5. Possible talk about his guns some more and how he would say all this stuff to your face, reaffirming how tough he is IRL.
  6. Tell people to stop quoting Internet gurus and instead suggest that they start listening to “swole” NPC competitors who lift at their gym, eat McDonalds and play basketball all day.
  7. Talk about his free Vacation to Colorado.
  8. Call posters “son, kid and guy” in an attempt to patronize them.
  9. Tell people to listen to swole guys at the gym who look better than you do but ignores that advice when guys like Stu, Zraw, Austin, BlueCollarTrain, Waylander disagree with him.
  10. Tell people to “try harder” and that they’re “not very good at this.” Like people actually care.
  11. Repeat steps 1-10 but not in that order.

Sticky?

I agree, very nicely done by Greg. But we might add some points to the list. Some of his current behavior is also gold. Not sure how to describe it succinctly though.

on a bodybuilding forum! i would be looking to the people who compete for advice, just my opinion. also no your not really special, only on T-Nation would your physique and apparent “knowledge” be considered special.

also i did not start this thread or any others like this?

I think that it is hilarious that people are boycotting or holding out with their “training knowledge” or presence or what ever it is that makes them feel special.

No one is that special. If they are, then they are high level professional trainers and coaches, in which case it would be silly to give away your cash cow on the web when you are supposed to be making a living off of it.

That little gem of reasoning was given to me by a guy who actually does coach and train top level athletes who compete at the Olympics and various professional sports teams, and believe me, he gives not a single fuck about what anybody on this site has to say about anything. Nor do any of his peers.

The gifs and meme responses are awesome though. If IH or Derek ever stop those I’m gonna have to leave too.

this is one of the bests post on this thread. sums up my thoughts well, serious training advice from world class trainers, not here for free on the discussion boards, but the memes, comedy, melodramatic reality show style bickering, great mindless entertainment for when you are bored and near a computer.

Now I don’t usually get involved in these threads, but as a spectator of these forums for the past 6-7 years, it is scary how true the above quoted post is, lol.

Carry on.
agreed, this should be a sticky, on pretty much every board he posts on.

I feel like this deserves a counter-point:
George Leeman wrote:
However, T-Nation is where I met a poster called Professor X. To this day he has done more to help my progress than any other source of knowledge. A huge guy who preached about multiple year bulks, getting super strong, and to not try to cut every time you see a little fat gain.

I’d take babyslayer over any bodybuilder. That’s just personal preference of course. But still, I think that’s evidence enough that Prof. X can’t be THAT bad right?
babyslayer is a powerlifter, why take his advice on bodybulding over someone like zraw or stu 2 guys who are successful bodybuilders?
Even as a powerlifter he has built a better physique than the vast majority of people on this forum. The amount of progress he made in a few short years was incredible, and as the quote I supplied illustrates, he give a lot of credit to X for that. That seems to be conveniently ignored by all those who insist X provides no useful advice.
Looks like this thread ended like I thought it would.

Thank God T-Nation didn’t allow the estrogen to win.
I decided to just put PX on ignore and I highly encourage everyone else to do that…

Why you ask?

Cause this way I will not see anyone quoting him and I will be able to truly fully ignore him

While this may sound like an immature post, I actually think it is what will benefit everyone the most
Zraw,

I don’t know what your beef with X is, perhaps it’s his blunt and direct delivery, but his message is just the same valid and worth listening to.

If you disagree, then leave it as a disagreement, but I can recall when people on this website gave him a world-wind of shit because he was brutally honest and refreshingly critical with people.

I have looked through your log, and without question, you have made great progress and achieved great success. But (particularly in this field of bodybuilding), no one is going to help you by patting you on the back and telling you how great you are. Pointing out flaws, being ruthlessly honest, are ways to make you better.

Sometimes I think the delivery can be more important than the message, but his intentions are good. If one man can derail you, then God forbid what the world can do to you.

max, I have a ton of respect for you and enjoy reading your posts, but I have to roll my eyes at this one and chuckle, if ANYBODY needs that post directed at them it X himself. lol

That’s why I like to visit the BB forum from time to time! I’m glad the other training forum I like to go to isn’t nearly as bad. It’s partially why I train for that sport instead of BB.

I do have to admit there is some solid training advice I have gotten from the bb forum and there are some really good posters there. There’s just a lot of BS to walk through to get to it.
