Eating clean and avoiding processed foods I found my sodium levels had gotten too low. As soon as I started eating more salt slept better and trained better. Had my best session this year today.
I had same stuff happen to me before.
Same like when I was eating pretty much no sugar… just complex carbs.
I needed some chocolate and other stuff to function normal
I put fruit into shakes but forgot about salt. Gone back to eating Sauerkraut and adding salt to warm water in morning.
I periodically will do juice fasts and run into this. I get wicked muscle cramps when I’m low.
I totally fell into the “low salt” trap. Concerned with my high blood pressure, I avoided it.
A few guys on here set me straight though. I regularly salt my food now. My sodium was also low on my labs.
My Bp has not been affected and my workouts are great.
The way I read it is sodium doesnt raise bp by itself. When you eat too much salt you drink more water which raises bp.
I was salting food but I worked out 4 turns of salt shaker is only 1/16 of a teaspoon and you need 1 teaspoon a day on non exercise days and more on workout days. I was also skipping some meals and just having a shake which has little sodium.
There are probably a few exceptions but if you’re overweight in your teens/early 20s you’ll probably stay that way.
Not sure about that. Lots of people go from fit to fat as they get older and drop sports. And some go from fat to fit as they overhaul a diet.
I can agree that “lots” of people go from fit to fat. I don’t see a lot of people going from fat to fit.
Harder to go from fat to fit. Most convenience food is high carb high calorie processed food and eating healthy takes more effort. I do know some people that went from very fat to very thin though but they aren’t that common.
Most fat people eat lots of processed food. They aren’t fat due to meat and 3 veg.
