I’m going to add it to my list of books I want to read now.

For the record, I only own a 12 gauge shotgun for the event of a zombie appocolypse and I need to spray and pray with buckshot to make it from my house to vehicle. The question reason came up when my fiance asked why I have a handgun AND shotgun within arms reach of the bed. I still maintain that she, and everyone else who laughed at this explination cannot in fact borrow it if and when the dead rise. [/quote]
Oh yeah. Still sitting on my bookshelf with other “reference” books.
World War Z, the book NOT the movie, is absolutely incredible. One the best works of fiction I have ever read, period.
I love how Zombie discussions always turn to weapons. And everybody puts shotguns and handgun on a pedastal but really, the best weapon agains the undead would be the .22 rifle.
I’ve always felt like employing the ol, Spartans at Thermopylae tactic could easily wipe out any Zombie horde. Just get like 5 other dudes at work and pick a ladder well or some other high ground/funnel area.

Fuck that, you keep your .22. Ill take Csulli and 2 Lobo’s and head to the front lines.

You thought the best work of fiction was WWZ?
Sorry I enjoyed it, but have read better zombie/end of the world books. It read like a newspaper.
Small caliber would be fine, easier to load, more ammo could be carried, quieter sound.
On top of that would be some type of blunt weapon, I like the one created in WWZ, which to me kind of resembled a fire place poker.

I am curious for an explanation on this .22 theory as I would say a shotgun with extended mag and shortened barrel would be ideal, a 223 with a few 30 rd clips coming in second.

The rounds are cheap and light. You could carry hundreds of them and not be weighed down. THere’s also almost no recoil so you can be very accurate, which mean 1 between the eye = 1 zombie down.
^ Hell 10 year olds could put zombies down with a .22, but not everyone even adults are gonna be able to wield a 12 gauge for long. Especially if they aren’t use to the recoil.
World War Z is on my night stand waiting, Iron John and Glock are next though…
Since I don’t leave home with out my .45, ammo, and my concealed carry weapon, I’ll just get back to my car and pony up. I also carry a Hurley, which could probably do some damage. Also in my trusty lesmobile is my bug -out bag and muck boots. I’m all set. Si Vis Pacem, Parabellum

Well in all fairness he said best works of fiction that he has ever read.
The weapon you are dercibing is the Lobo which I was joking about. Basically a shovel formed into an axe with a spike on it. “Lobo” is short for Lombotomizer.

you’re only taking headshots with a zombie. use the .22, save the bigger stuff for other threats.
.22 ammo is light. I could easily carry 1000 rounds of .22 and shoot it all day. shoot .308, 5.56, or a 12-gauge for an hour and you’ll be dead tired.
and it’s probably the most plentiful ammo around.

Yea sorry read about 30-40 books since I read WWZ last year.
Again in theory would need a stout blunt weapon that would not “stick” in a head when struck

I guess I could see that but if you are talking 12 gauge you do have the push back and delimb to create separation if you get cornered or they start catching up to you trying to make an escape. 12 gauge kel-tech pump and a 22 pistol with an extended clip may be your best and easiest to carry combo.

Not “The Best” but damn good. I couldn’t put it down. And the way it’s structured, like a report, with all the different stories and characters…pretty smart and definitely original, in my opinion.
Some dude made something that resembles a lobo called a crovel. It’s fucking awesome. Yes, I got one.
This zombie shit is getting retarded. ZOMG how many ways can I imagine to kill a fictional creature!!! It was amusing at first, but the D&D and video game geeks( you know who you are) have really beat this one to death.

I’m more of an asshole in real life if you must inquire. Unless, I’m being paid to be charming and polite.
Do you not see this zombie preparedness trend as cliche and juvenile?
