So I saw Charles Poliquin today...

Hehe, I gotta say this post is killing me. You could have used anyone’s name in the Title of the post and the responses would be similar. There are always those who will like the person in question and tell you to “go fuck yourself” in one way or another. Then there are those who agree with you and will say, “rant on T-Bubba/Bubbette!” Then there are those who are neutral and try to rationalize the person in questions actions as to why they did what they did, thus trying to bring peace to the forum. It is a sweet thread to read though. Brings out the best in all of us. BTW I am one of those Community College grads with an AAS in Aerospace Engineering and just a plain ol’ dumb jet mechanic in the Air Force. So feel free to disregard my comments if my academic credentials do not measure up. Oh and I don’t know if CP is an asshole, I have never met him, but I do think he has a lot to offer all of us… 2 cents from me… that’s about 30 cents the group owes me. Flame on ya’ll!

“In the world of strength and conditioning, which i consider myself a part of as an exercise scientist(well three hours away anyway), he is a celebrity” is what you said. again HAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHHAAHHAHAA you also said “you couldnt do one goddamn thing i can do. i fucking guarantee it. thats anything. run, jump, lift, you name it. you fucking prick.” again HAHAHHAHAHHHAHAHAA I am 5’10 and can dunk a bb any day, I can walk into any gym and pull 600. please little man SHUT UP!!! don’t believe me? I am in jersey, let me know when you want to work out. did not think so pom pom girl.

I read testosterone, and have since issue 3, for entertainment purposes. TC and the rest of the guys are hilarious and to the point at times. I am thinking very hard about what I have read over the past 3 years, and I can honestly say I have not “learned” anything about weight training in particular from this website. All the guys have interesting theories, and I enjoy reading them, but sincerely it isn’t anything I didn’t already know from my education previously. It is all variations on a theme, as Ian King would say. Vary everything, that is the basic concept of all the coaches. Sets, reps, rest, tempo, on and on. The “strength coaches” just vary it for you when they design a “personalized” plan and charge the aformentioned 300 bucks. So why not learn how to design your own programs and save yourself some money? I have tried some of the posted workouts, King’s Leg Workout and first upper body spec. routine. But I never grew. I have a faster recovery rate from exercise naturally, and therefore respond best to 2x week training. No one would know that but me. As King said before, " you are your own best coach, because only you know what you need."
Ol’Kid- Well, instead of getting into a low-brow name calling excursion, I am going to do you a favor. I have a personal best touch and go of 455 on the flat bench at a bodyweight of 212, and a squat of 565 at the same weight. Here is a link to a couple of pictures of me after my first bodybuilding contest 2 months ago here in Georgia, where I weighed 185.
Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos snbfgachamps.html (Don’t forget to eliminate all spaces)Now I ain’t got everything squared away by any means, and I have TONS of work to do to be where I want to be, but I think I eximplify the t-man lifestyle. I don’t just talk the talk, but I do the walkin too. I am calling you out in front of the whole forum, since you have such a wonderfully loud presence, to post a couple of yourself to see if you too walk the walk. Oh, I see, you don’t have a digital camera or scanner…yawn…

Poman, I checked out your link, and you certainly do look good. Hats off, man!

And if you can honestly say that you haven’t learned anything from this website, hats off again. I can’t say the same. So I guess for you, it might really be true that you’ve got it figured out.

Regardless, I think that if you polled most of the people on the forum, they’d say that they read T-Mag for more than just the (admittedly enticing) entertainment value. And I think that, while there are certainly some meatheads around here, a lot of T-readers are pretty smart.

I also tried some of King’s stuff and didn’t get anything much from it. But I have grown from CPs routines - not just once, but every time. Thus, I’d pay more to see a CP seminar than an Ian King seminar…but I do have to say that I learned some interesting things from his leg training video. So for me anyway, it pays to read and learn, 'cause I’m just not naturally suited to the endeavor of BB and I can use all the help I can get.

Not trying to argue any more with you here, but I do have one last point/question. Have you trained others? And if so, have they experienced the same gains as you have? If everyone you train ends up looking similar to you, hey man, you should be the one writing articles here instead of just posting. But if not, perhaps you’ll accept the idea that not everyone gets where they want to go just by “varying everything”. (Which was my original point, waaay back when.)

Peace out.

Poman, you look great, there’s no question. And they are some impressive lifts.I guess you took the final statement a little too literal.I didn’t really think you followed BFL,just venting.Anyway,as for pics, you’re correct,I have none. They wouldn’t be super impressive either, but I fell I’m doing well, despite an extremely poor insulin sensitivity.( i could round up doctors papers to prove,My fathers side of the family are predominately diabetic)I guess you were “venting” on my moron statement,I still think the statement is stupid. But it is true, there isn’t a lot of “new” info around. That doesn’t mean there isn’t new stuff out there. As for “calling me out"My best lifts are 305,strict bench,385 squat, and a 390 DL,not nearly as high as yours, but again,I’m 6’0”,and only 188 lbs.So regardless of how “weak” I may be,I’m getting stronger, and bigger, and am happy with the improvements I’ve made.

Thanks for your compliments guys, I really appreciate that. I normally don’t show my pics to people, but I felt I had to defend myself against being a Body for Lifer! Thats the worst name any serious weight trainer can be called! That was a stab right to the heart when I was accused of that one! Char- I will be the first to admit that I picked the right parents. I have an above average recovery ability, small joints and full muscle bellies. All stuff that came from the womb. Heck, I even gained a ton of muscle and strength on that bulgarian serious strength program when I was 18 and 19 years old working out 3x week frequency! So, I will be the first to admit that a lot of folks may not gain as I do on my training frequency. I have trained other guys, to varying degrees of success. I’ve found out that most people who say they “want to gain 20 lbs, or bench 315, etc.” do not want to do what it takes. Getting big and strong is damn hard work, as most folks on this forum know, and many, many people in the general public are Lay-z! My training is almost completely centered around the big compound movements, and as we all know they hurt much more than tricep kickbacks. So, I have become very disenchanted with the normal skinny-fat guy that populates the gym. I do work with committed, serious athletes some though. My brother, who I think is in one of the pics with me, is a div. 1 outside linebacker, and has made incredible progress recently. It is pretty hard to find time to train folks now, as I am in my third year of a doctor of pharmacy degree, and time is at a premium.

The trainers here at t-mag all seem extremely knowledgeable about weight training. I didn’t mean to imply they weren’t. I enjoy reading each one of their articles. I am positive that they have helped many trainees to put on lots of muscle and strength, as evidenced by their popularity and prowess. I am just a huge believer in personal improvement, mentally and physically. Some of the strength training books are extremely good, and enable a person, through studying them, along with a descent knowledge of biomechanics, to be able to design their own routines, better than the coaches sometimes, because only you truly know your body and its strengths/weaknesses. My argument was that too many people blindly follow routines by the famous trainers, instead of asking “what is best for me?” But that attitude pervades all aspects of our society, so I digress…

Kid- Those are certainly very impressive numbers that you have put up in the big lifts. Nothing to sneeze at! You are certainly a t-man. I was just giving you a hard time the other day. Being called a “toner” sends smoke outta my ears! Concentrating on the big lifts is the key to a great physique, and I’m glad you’ve got that down pat. Now, if we could just get the “real” bfler’s to do some real lifting, our battle would be won.

Now see thats what i’m talking about! Everybody gets along when we all act a little civilize. Now how about a great big group hug ?
