Snapper's Strength Sojourn

oh dont THINK you can come in here, showin up as though we still LIKE you, after you make us bookmark a new page, with your new old friends, in your new forum… comin back here like youre doin us a favour…

fuck you too.

im constantly amazed at your progress, actually, and i still do the worry thing that you’re doing too much sometimes. its almost as though i like you…

or something.

bitch.

i’ve been curious as to what the 35+ forum has goin on-i’ll make my way over there to keep tabs on ya. i meet the age requirement so be kind if i show up please…

i agree with bear- i worry that you might be pushing it too. but you know what’s best for your body so i’ll keep quiet. i know big numbers are the most important to some people but remember that there are different goals throughout these parts. just seeing the consistency and hard work people put in (regardless of #s) is inspiring for some. of course those putting up the big stuff is inspiration in a different way…not everyone can be a real PLer…some of us just get to watch in awe…

and that video made my jaw drop. really amazing!!

Here’s an interesting statement. Because I think anyone CAN be a “powerlifter,” at least at my caliber. I’m not talking about people like PMPM, O, and Lil Power. These women are pretty obviously exceptional. But the only difference between me and another 45-year-old woman my size is that I’m training hard (when I can) and took the leap to enter a meet (with some very strong encouraging). I definitely don’t have the genetics for the sport. No one can argue with me that a 5’ woman with short limbs who can build muscle isn’t more genetically designed for the sport than I am.

But it raises an interesting argument.

I’m thinking attitude/state of mind is also an important piece. Having the drive and the one-minded focus. Also the patience and open-mind to learn the skillz. A lot of people want to be great. Not very many are willing to learn what it takes.

I think everybody’s body has “sport” its best built for. For me its 5k’s, if I put down the fork and the weights and picked up running again I’d be back to running sub-20 5k’s in two to three months. But thats not what I want, I want to be strong. Maybe I’m being stupid for not going with what I’m built for but I think thats the point. If you want to be a powerlifter you can but it might not be what your best suited for.

Hey K!

Agree with N on that one…

I’ll check ya later…

I guess i’ll be peekin into the over 35 side now…

snap - how are you doing in your rotator cuff surgery rehab and return to pl? i’m 2 wks out from surgery for a full thickness tear that included 2 tendons. i have read all your posts in hopes of finding out what i can expect during my rehab and when i’m finally allowed to start lifting again in 5 1/2 months. i’m doing wall squats and chair pistols for now, plus anything isometric i can think of. no driving for 4 more wks but looking forward to stairmaster and maybe spinning.
