Snap Back

I am just hitting my prime. I post here because there is a little less dick measuring. The PL forum is full of fifteen year olds braggin about squatting 315 because they did it without a belt. There is some good stuff elsewhere on the site but I don’t need the dick measuring… (to put it crudely).

I read that post earlier and found that it said more about the maturity of the poster than anything else. Which is probably why I choose to post here in the Over-35 section. We have formed a community different from the other areas.

It’s a good thing too because some of us would come up short.

I’d like to know who thinks the over 35 forum is insulting; unless they are insulted by it being exclusionary. It’s a private club you know.

I went looking for that post and I have to say that as soon as I saw the screen name “rougevampire” I pretty much knew retardism was to come.

I like the O-35 forum because it has some of the hottest chicks.

I can’t wait for four years to pass so I can start logging over here.

Pete: I’m sorely disappointed to think that you guys don’t sit around measuring yourselves.

Jumpin’ Jack: You’re awesome.

PMPM: You can always lie about your age. Women do it all the time. [Insert emoticon here.]

Snapper, I will see what we can do to accomadate.

I saw that post also, but didn’t want to reply there and hijack that thread. I post in over35 because of the commonalities you mentioned, the lack of “dick measuring” like Pete said, and the fact that almost everyone here is focused and in it for the long term. I know its not true for many here, but I personally am past my prime. Nothing to be ashamed about, it just happens. Every year though. I still have the goal of lifting more and throwing farther than I ever have before.

well, it came from a vampire, so they are probably, like, 500 years old or something. ya know…

I like how you old folks smell

Seriously I get the difference and I like both. I’d have a foot in both worlds if I could. I was also about to reply to the weirdo but he seemed so full of it. Why argue with a wall?

I think most of us post here for similar reasons

whether you are new to training or a former super jock
baring the soul takes guts its a little more respectful
here then some of the other forums

the e-support is fantastic

all of the forums here are good- but the goods are odd and sifting is needed-
I follow posters or threads- and don’t really scour the forums.

I do post very heavily in combat sports.
but its ridden with trollster brotard bushleaguers to the point where
I have a paradoy training log.

Its nice to be civil- or use adult language.

ps snap love the boots.

One of the reasons I love the 35+ group is that most of the people my age seem to have given up trying to achieve anything beyond keeping up with TV shows. Its like they set the cruise control and don’t want to be fussed to do any better at anything.

Because of this most of my friends are in their late 20’s early 30’s and their great but sometimes its nice to be around people my age who still have goals and ambitions.

absolutely. i like it here cuz the folks are somewhat like me. not so young dudes with joint and back challenges, careers, history, but still trying to get something out of it.

The only insulting thing I’ve seen here is how I greet newbies to the board. But seriously. you gotta do 5/3/1. without rules there’d be anarchy

I’ve really enjoyed reading all your input. To be honest, I’m proud to own up to my age (45). I feel like I’ve worked hard to be fit and healthy. Now if I can just get lots, lots stronger.

Today’s training was bench. I’m having a little trouble taking the liftoff and beginning the descent where my coach wants me to. I have this very narrow comfort zone still with my shoulder. My coach wants the bar lower on my chest (over my xyphoid rather than my shoulders). So he lifts it off and pushes it forward and I push back and resist. In other words, I’m benching too high. He told me today that I need to stop fighting him. I feel like my shoulder’s about to collapse when I allow him to position the bar where he says it should be. Can’t figure out if it’s muscle weakness or psychological or what. Just another little challenge.

the lower you bench the better off your shoulders are going to be long term.

I thought “the sweet spot” was right below the boobs. Is that low enough?

Not quite!

Merry Christmas.

Oh, holy night.

I do believe you’ve found the “sweet spot”.

Merry Christmas to you, and happy endings to all.
