Thanks for the feedback. I am pretty far down on the bench and will work on starting farther up. I haven’t been doing my own liftoffs lately.
I will work on my back flexibility. I can’t figure out why I can do a backbend but can’t arch on a flat bench. I have a hard time keeping my feet flat with an arch but my federation requires flat, still feet.
So I’m back to thinking I may participate in the state meet, which is five weeks away. Call me crazy. I don’t care. I’ve worked very hard to get back where I am, even though I’m not back to where I was. I know I won’t have impressive numbers (especially bench, where I’m not willing to strain all that hard). I think the platform experience would be good. Sort of like getting back on the horse. And if I’m doing my best, what’s not to hold my head high about? I will be six+ months post-surgery by then.

It might be crazy but its the kind of crazy I really admire.
Ok…CRAZY! You made me smile though (in a good way), reading through the rationalization.
Cute outfit in the bench video. There is no way that your top is sliding on the bench.
Does your federation allow you to put your flat feet on plates? I doubt if I could’ve gotten the same arch without having my feet raised up a little bit.
And, I can’t do a backbend but can arch on the bench. What’s up with that, I wonder?

Do it! just keep your bench at a token level or a little more - no going for a post surgery max! You did that last meet with just a token bench minutes after you tore that shoulder up.
Are you thinking of gearing up for the meet? That could be fun. Putting on a shirt may protect your shoulder. I’m excited to watch your training and see how you make out.
Brutus: Yes, the very same meet you’re going to do.
Soldog: I have no intention of pushing myself in bench. At this point, I actually plan to open with the bar and collars (55 lb).
Kimba: Yes, USAPL allows blocks for under the feet. Never tried it. But it couldn’t hurt to do so.
DCA: The grape chucks match my grape belt. Love the color.
So today’s training called for deadlift. I haven’t deadlifted in exactly one month, since before I started Smolov Jr. In the past, I’ve found that if I’m training my squat hard and consistently, I don’t need to deadlift much to keep my numbers respectable. Was very curious to see where I was today after no DLing or lower body accessory work of any kind in the last month. I did well.
RDL
8/45
5/95
Conventional DL
5/115
3/135
2/155
1/175
1/190
1/200 . . . just 20 lb. away from 2x bodyweight
The 200 came up fine. Definitely some butt lift. But I always do that as the weight gets heavy. I was very pleased with this.
Lat Pulldown
3/10/70 too light
A) Weighted Hypers
3/10/35
B) Leg Extensions
3/10/80
My plan is to start up another three-week Smolov Jr. cycle in a week with a higher max dialed in. I’m going to go with what Jumpin’ Jack has been talking about in terms of training intensely right up to a meet. I’m hoping that another squat cycle will push my DL up to 2x bodyweight raw by meet day.
I have a vid of the 200 pull. Can’t find my converter presently. But will load when I can.
Snap: I was thinking of all the peeps walking around in your gym and the fact that I put up with the same idiots in my gym. I, on the other hand us that as an excuse to limit my numbers while you “politely” let everyone pass and then grabbed that bar like you owned it. What I’m trying to say is you inspires me to have less excuses.
