“And then the negotiating began.”
That was funny.
I think your surgeon likes you.

x2 He’s sweet on you.
My doc just tells me I’m an idiot.
He might have just let you go if you had agreed to the benching restriction. Besides being caring and conscientious, it could be he wants some good data on recovery for stubborn people after this kind of mess.
Keep up the hard work. Heavier weights will be moving soon enough.
damn…
lookit you woman!
And I’d say it’s good that your surgeon cares.

Highlight of day: 3 chinups. Two sets. Full stretch.
Saw my surgeon this morning. This was my FIFTH post-surgery appointment. He put me through a battery of strength tests. I did well. Then he said, “Tell me what you’re doing in the gym these days.” So I gave him a little summary and asked if I could start benching (which I’m sort of already doing with really teeny weights). He responded, “I’d like you to wait another two months.” To which I responded, “That’s not going to happen.” And then the negotiating began.
I’d say I won. But that danged surgeon still won’t release me! Wants me back in another eight weeks. He genuinely seems to care about my ongoing progress and long-term prognosis.
Today’s training:
A) Flat Bench DB Press
3/10/12.5
B) Barbell Wrist Curls
3/15/25
A) Seated Row
3/10/60
B) Low Cable Straight Bar Bicep Curl
3/10/35
C) Tricep Cable Rope Pushdown
3/10/40
Chinups
2/3

can you say “Case Study”, I knew you could…
Better to have one caring doc than a multitude of idiots.
rockin the rehab. you’ll be deadlifting big BOY plates soon enough.

By chance? Did he tell you if there a chance of retearing? If this makes you feel any beter, I know a few people in the physical theropy field who will tell you Doctors are to conservative with dealing with recovery.
FTR, you do have to pull sumo to be cool but not everyone is cut out to be one of the cool kids. The dork group needs members too.
Seriously, I’m consistently impressed with your tenacity. It’s easy to keep going when things are going your way. The real winners keep going when they aren’t. In my head, I’m singing “You are the wind beneath my wings…” Okay, I’m in the dork group too.
why is that all the girls that post over here are hot and all us guys look like we should be on display at the local zoo??
i guess my point is, training makes girls hotter and it makes us, well, more like primates.

i can’t be the only one to notice this. strong women look hot and strong dudes look like they should be humping heavy loads up some big ass mountain followed by the villagers.

No argument here. Pretty + strong is a killer combo. or, even the Crossfit approach which makes women hot and men scrawny.
So many options to look good. Geez, women have it easy. (edit: insert smileyface)

The guys with the most firewood, get the ladies.
Here I’ve been so busy having an emotional breakdown this weekend while you men are bantering compliments about. Truly, it’s very flattering and a huge boost to my ego. You guys all look great yourselves.
O: Thanks for the kind words about my tenacity. It’s true that it’s easy to be motivated when you’re rocking everything. And not so easy when you’re not.
I don’t think my surgeon has a crush on me. But I do think he enjoys the diversion I offer from the typical patients whose goals are simply to return to activities of daily living. My surgeon and I actually have meaningful conversations. Last visit it revolved around “safest” grip position on the bar for bench and hand placement for pushups.
Today’s training: progress continues
Lying “L” DB External Rotation
3/15/3 . . . not going up in weight here but more reps and my ROM seems to be a tad better
Flat Bench
3/8/40 (36% of bodyweight)
Bentover BB Row
3/8/40
A) 45 Degree DB Raise
3/12/3
B) Lateral DB Raise
3/12/3
C) DB Shrugs
3/15/22.5
Straight Bar Straight Arm Pressdown
3/12/45 . . . thought this might be hard on my shoulder. But it wasn’t.
Chinups
3/3
Yep. I’m up to 3 x 3 on chins. I had to fight for the last rep of the last set. Clawing my way back to 3 x 10.
Solid work, Snap, solid work.
i’m sure your surgeon would love to see a vid of one of my reverse grip benches…would probably have a heart attack.
3x3 on chins are awesome. are those palms in or palms out??

I hope you are done with the emotional breakdown. That sort of thing can ruin a good weekend.

Since this is KP’s thread and because she’s a hot lady, let’s just stick with “lumber”.
Hope you get to feeling better Snapper.
