Smolov... Jr.

BTW, before Smolov Jr, I had a hard time doing pistols. I tried pistols again yesterday, and it felt a lot easier, although I still need to work on my balance. A bodybuilder in my gym noticed that I have some leg muscle recruitment imbalance because my pistols looked really bad. Still, I could pistol. I guess that counts for something.

The weather here is an ass. I don’t get to go out and train today.

I was supposed to Smolov Jr yesterday AND today, but the powerlifter was there and he persuaded me into doing HIS program instead for both days. I couldn’t turn him down coz he’s more experienced and he might be insulted.

Yesterday, I benched (I think that would take care of 6x6 @ 70%) while today I deadlifted (I hope it doesn’t affect my squat on Saturday). I’ll try to bench 7x5 @ 75% tomorrow. I hope he’s not there.

Do you train outside?

BTW, I’m going to watch this log. I might try Smolov or Sheiko later this year.

I train inside, of course. I just couldn’t get out on the road due to heavy rains and hurricane winds.

7x5 @ 125 lbs for bench. It was too easy so I barely rested between sets. I also did some maintenance for pullups 5x5 @ BW and some tricep pullovers for assistance, 5x7 @ 50.

BTW, I’ll start maintenance for squats 5x5 @ 80% next week. All I need to do is calculate 80% of 225.

If you didn’t get that at first… I ALSO SQUATTED 225 TODAY!!! I had a 40 lb PR in 3 weeks. That’s over 120% of my previous 1RM. It was kinda difficult, but it felt like I still had something left in me. Smolov is da bomb!

I’ll try to PR again on Saturday. I’ll try up to 245 lbs. I hope I get this kind of progress after my Smolov Jr bench.

8x4 @ 130. It bothers me that many guys love using the bench so I had to rush through my sets and neglect my fatigue. I wasn’t able to apply optimal power to all my sets.

Tomorrow, I attempt to squat 245.

Newbie gains. Don’t expect it to work like that always.

I’m not dampening your spirit. I’m just keeping your feet on the ground. That’s an amazing PR. Congrats.

I squatted again 225 today. I felt weaker so I stopped there. I went on to bench 10x3 @ 140.

6x6 @ 135. I was supposed to do only 130 but the I ran out of plates.

The logs forum is really getting crowded. Anyway, I did 7x5 @ 140 today.

Maintenance day. I did 6x5 w/ 185 lbs on the squat. Amazing. One month ago, that was my max. I also did 2x5 w/225 on half squats.

After squatting, I did 6x5 on both BW pullups and lateral raises.

Skipped yesterday because I lack sleep. Did 10x3 @ 150 today. Did sprints as well and became faster. Maybe due to squats.

6x6 @ 140.

7x5 @ 145. Felt very easy.

Squatted 7x5 @ 135 today. They were dead squats from parallel, which is my sticking point. It’s so hard to get the weight going, but once I do, it explodes. Humbling.

Nice, still making progress. Nice work bruva.

Keep logging everything mate.

8x4 @ 150.

10x3 @ 160.

My bench PR: 185x1. Only 20 lbs increase. Not as good as my squat.

Next on Smolov Jr: Deadlifts and Pullups.
