That article does not support the conclusion trumpeted in the headline. The fact that Dems are less tolerant of Trump than Pubs are of HRC would indicate a general difference in tolerance if and only if Trump and HRC were matched on some sort of repugnancy scale, which has not been demonstrated.
I would mos def not classify Shapiro as “a conservative critic of Trump.” George Will is a conservative critic of Trump. Likewise Bill Kristol, Bret Stephens, Charlie Sykes and David Frum. Not Shapiro.
I live in the reddest state in the nation… I swear, I didn’t see a single HRC bumper sticker until a year after the election in my local area. It’s was on some real piece of shit of a car, where the subframe was made from duct-tape.
I thought I saw a guy where a ‘Hillary’ T-shirt in the store once. And when I looked up at it, I was right, except it said “Hillary for Prison”.
I actually talked to a very nice person from the Office of the President @ Berkeley about this phenomenon. The culture of violence that is resonating from places like Berkeley. He retorted back, that they spent $600,000 on security for Ben Shapiro. I wrote back, “That’s the problem. Last time he was there he had 2 security guards he paid for himself. Now he needs snipers on the roof.”
He did concede, he said “I know, I am sick of it too. I wish everybody would calm down.”
I didn’t claim Shapiro has never made a remark critical of Trump. But compare his work output with that of the individuals I listed above, and you will quickly realize that they (the ones I listed) are conservative critics of Trump, whereas Shapiro is a conservative who occasionally criticizes Trump. There’s a big difference between the two species.
I don’t have his books or follow him out of habit.
However, having not voted for Trump, and his repeated and explicit outlining of Trump’s lying and immorality earns the Sloth “Conservative critic” of Trump stamp. Going to have disagree, while not caring enough to put much more time into defending it. Not passionate enough about Shapiro, in the end.
Looking at his books and some of those videos; he seems like an extremely intelligent…albeit unhappy and angry…person.
I suppose that if your view is that you are surrounded by filth, corruption and Liberals that are destroying all you know to be true…one would be just a little unhappy and angry…
Question. Why Berkeley?
Would his reception be the same at Liberty University? (Doubtful)…or some SEC or Big-12 School? (Serious question…)
I love Shapiro so I will defend him to the death and I think he’s great for the right. He’s very consistent in his stances, calls out Trump when he goes against what he believes and praises him when he does something he believes in. Simple right? Doesn’t seem to be the case with many talking heads/journalists.
You copy cat, you. But no, we will not agree on this. Douche and turd episode on South Park was the last election to a t… Neither are very good people.
Hyperbole on my part but some are more fair than others with regards to how they critique Trump. Some will oppose Trump in whatever he does. Shapiro calls it consistently either way.
Shapiro literally was the number 1 journalistic target for antisemitism. Why? Because he receives hate from the left and the far right “always Trumpers.” That says a lot to me.
Not sure how to provide evidence for telling people to do a social experiment…
Facebook is where the liberals are the louder voice. Brings me back to my point of not being able to really post conservative views without backlash.
I personally don’t see this. Not even from CNN.
I’m not going to argue over the title of the article. I posted another study as well.
Look, do you think both sides are equally intolerant? One side has to be more intolerant, correct? I see no evidence of conservatives being more intolerant of differing opinions than liberals.
I don’t see conservatives needing safe spaces, liberal news organizations being blocked by big tech, shadow banning conservatives by big tech on social media or protests of opposing voices coming from the right happening. That’s the tip of the iceberg.
Really? Our CiC isn’t even tolerant of differing republican opinions, let alone liberal ones.
I do. When they’re constantly using an example like ‘i can’t post on Facebook without being attacked’ or ‘liberals control the media and are targeting Republicans’
Alex Jones is not news. He’s media at best. The same way the national enquirer isn’t news.
Also it’s not intolerance of liberals because these tech companies aren’t liberal weapons. It’s intolerance of lies. That should be an everyone thing.
Neither was Obama. Do I need to bring us back to how he treated Fox News? What’s your point?
I’m not asking for a safe space. It’s just reality. I could post all I wanted and not feel threatened or scared, I just don’t want to waste my day arguing with dummies on facebook. And you really think the media isn’t liberal dominated? Dude, come on. It’s Fox News vs CNN, MSNBC, CBS, PBS, NBC. Again, that’s not asking for safe spaces like a child.
Also, look up shadow banning on twitter. It’s real whether you want to believe it or not.
CNN isn’t news. It’s media at best. That was easy.
Tech companies are clearly liberal. I didn’t think that was even controversial… Intolerance of lies? CNN and Fox News lie all the time. Ban them fuckers from twitter and facebook.
All your examples are Trump. You won’t find a disagreement from me about his thin skin.
You can have the last word. I don’t have the energy today to go back and forth. I wouldn’t expect someone, who in my opinion leans left, to agree with me on this subject.
