Smile, Sarah.... Smile ...!

Have you ever met someone who was harassed? Known a guy who knew a guy ^50th power?

It’s usually accompanied by video but I did know a guy whose brother’s second cousin twice removed friend got harassed at a pet store in a little town in Wyoming.

Who is pushing that perception?

Should I assume every Republican is a birther? Every one is an Alex Jones fan and believes the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary was a hoax? That’s the perception.

Any one who covers the news and reports it I suppose. . Wear a MAGA hat in Minneapolis/another big city and let me know your experience. Post a pro Trump comment on Facebook/social media and watch your feed blow up. I don’t see people protesting liberal speakers at Universities or anywhere for that matter. I don’t see people with “I’m with her” stickers on their car or Clinton/Bernie supporters being harassed at the same rate as Trump supporters.

Liberals are some of the most intolerant people when it comes to politics.

https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/craig-bannister/pew-liberals-far-more-intolerant-opposite-party-friends-conservatives-moderates

I know maga people in my metro that encounter zero of any of that. And my metro is much more liberal than Minneapolis.

That’s most of what my family posts. They see mostly agreement from the rest of my family (although I’ll admit my mom’s side has slowed a bit since the trade war)

Awfully broad brush you got there. Especially considering who sits in the oval

I have a hard time believing that. Minnesota doesn’t vote for Republican presidents and Minneapolis is why.

That shit wouldn’t fly on my timeline and yes that’s because I live in a liberal state. I once posted a semi positive Trump facebook post and I never post anything on FB(especially political for this reason) but I had over 120 comments. (Maybe Minnesota liberals are just shitty.)

You ignored by article you little rascal.

Edit: To be fair though, I don’t know what it’s like to live in a red state being a liberal and if they are met with the same intolerance as conservatives/Trump supporters in my state.

I double checked to be sure. My metros county had a higher % for HRC than Minneapolis’ county.

You could always just unfriend them lol

I’m not sure if any article is strong enough to back up the statement ‘liberals are some of the most intolerant people when it comes to politics’ given how I existed not in a remote area of the planet for Obama’s tenure.

The GOP ran a national candidate (who obliterated ‘regular’ republicans) and easy ran the most intolerant campaign I’ve ever seen. And the competition was Ms. Deplorable, so that says a lot.

Which metro would that be? I also know a lot of people were mad that Sanders got screwed and didn’t vote. Also, you using percentage says that there are more liberals here so I stick by my comment.

True but na, I can handle opinions different from my own. I just don’t comment. I got unfollowed and unfriended by many, though. Hashtag tolerant liberals.

Did you read the article? Did you look at the study attached to it? It’s pew research. Now I’m not saying all liberals are intolerant because I get along great with plenty of liberals but generally speaking, they are as a whole, more intolerant when it comes to politics. That’s my perception, I live in that reality in MN and I have pew research on my side.

Oh wow, hadn’t seen that Pew poll.

Democrat intolerance increases with education, Pew finds:

“There is a 17-percentage-point gap between the share of Democrats with a college degree or more education (44%) and the share with no more than a high school education (27%) saying a friend voting for Trump would put a strain on the friendship.”

Heck, some of Ben Shapiro’s experiences with speaking at universities seem to bear this out. And he’s a conservative critic of Trump.

The Cost of Free Speech Isn’t Cheap at UC Berkeley
It cost the University of California, Berkeley an estimated $600,000 to put the campus on virtual lockdown as conservative commentator Ben Shapiro spoke Thursday night.

Honestly, it’s Trump. I don’t know if I would have said the same thing a few years ago.

One in Ohio. Theres only a few

Edit: ruh roh. Bad googling. Hennepin county does in fact have more people than we do
Edit2: you guys have hella suburbs. We have more in the city but less in the county

We also have a higher total number in population, so the absolute number is higher as well. But statistically the overall number doesn’t really matter as much when comparing 2 cities, so I didn’t mention it.

Is the express purpose of social media to surround yourself with whatever you want? People unfollowing and unfriending, while enough to seemingly trigger people these days, seems like the adult decision.

Maybe I’m missing something, but the article seemed to specifically mention the only deciding factor is Trump himself. Not republicans, etcetc.

If your accusation is that liberals are far more intolerant of trump supporters, I wholeheartedly agree. Not a shadow of doubt there

A higher percentage of people voted for Hillary in MN than in Ohio. 46.9% to 43.5 so I would have to know what city but I guess this is all subjective anyways.

I see your edit ha. No big deal.

I don’t use FB much. Just mentioning the intolerance around me posting something semi positive about Trump. I don’t really care who posts what. I just ignore it if I don’t like it.

I beat you to it ha. It’s definitely caused by Trump for the most part but as @Sloth Sloth posted above, Shapiro gets tons of hate from the left and gets ridiculously protested and called a nazi and he’s not exactly a fan of Trump. Just an example. We can agree to disagree. I still like you @pfury.

I didn’t know that Shapiro was a critic of Trump, @Sloth.

He seems to get under “Liberal Skin” even more than Trump, though. (Not sure why…I don’t know enough about his views to comment…any insights would be welcome…!)

Huh, from that Pew poll…

Among Democrats and Democratic leaners, whites, college graduates and liberals are among the most likely to say knowing a friend voted for Trump would strain their friendship. While 40% of white Democrats and Democratic leaners say this, fewer black (28%) and Hispanic (25%) Democrats say the same.

Yeah but we’ve got farmers out the ass. If you look at a county map of Ohio essentially every election is a sea of red with blue in Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati (even though Cincinnati is Kentucky).

Totally get that. There is definitely an anti Trump bias in today’s liberal sphere. It’s probably stronger than the anti Obama bias we saw, and that says a lot.

Where does this happen? Strictly on college campuses? I’ve just always struggled to equate the actions of children at a school to the rest of the population. Especially given how small of a chunk they are.

I like you too

Shapiro calls balls and strikes pretty well when it comes to Trump. He was cast as a never Trumper during the election.

Oh yeah.

To give you an idea.

Interesting.

Why doesn’t Shapiro appear to catch Trump’s wrath, whether in Tweet’s or rallies?

I think Shapiro often talks too fast (he’s rather subdued in the video) for Trump to follow along.

No, lol. I don’t know. Hm, maybe he has but I’ve missed it. I am curious now if he’s taking a poke back at him.

Solid question haha. Maybe because he says nice things too?
