Smelling Salt

I was looking at these from various retailers. I see there are capsules or just a bottle of stuff. Which is better?

both are different. The capsules are more standardized in terms of what you’re getting, only minor issues with the caps is they are a one shot deal and you need to store them in a hard container in your gym bag or they’ll break and be useless.

The bottle is usually SUPER POTENT when you first get it, moreso than the caps…it will light your ass up. But given some time, it wears off considerably. I remember getting a bottle and snorting it right after I got it and it was hardcore. I capped it and tossed it in my bag and it was probably a month before I went to use it and the shit was dead.

Ok, so my bodybuilding routine has me doing 8 sets of 3 on my core lifts (shoulder pree, dead, bench, squat), so it is close to a pl set up, I guess. Maybe I’ll use it once a week, is that too much?

As in set 8 of deads one week and ond shoulder press the next…so on for bench and squats.

And the caps are less potent but are more consistent than the bottle. eh?

Any brands I should look at?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. This stuff sounds awesome. I can’t wait to get some and get amped up.

I have to ask if there’s a reason you think you would need them on a weekly basis for BB training. You’re essentially huffing chemicals. Not good for the brain.

There’s a real sweetness that comes in learning how to mentally push through a last set when you feel spent. I would focus on developing that mental fortitude rather than inhaling ammonia.

I stand by my original statement that ammonia capsules have their place when going for PRs on the platform, though.

I don’t need them. I do just fine on pushing through tough sets. This would be purely experimental. I like exploring all available routes, ya know?

And maybe this “once weekly” thing came out of excitement. lol

Love using ammonia caps for PR attempts, especially deadlifts. I usually sniff one then hit myself in the face as hard as I can, rage over to the bar then collapse after the pull. I feel like it definitely helps me a lot, at least mentally

I used them more when I was younger. Now I think it’s silly. I actually used a friend’s liquid ammonia once and sucked some inn my nostrils and screwed up my last deadlift hurting us for team points.

If it helps, fine use it, but save it for a big attempt. And try it before you hit the platform to see how it affects you.

Personally I think it’s better to learn focus and just put your all in an attempt without excessive bravado. But people are wired differently and like I said before, if it helps you do it.Don’t make these things crutches, make them boosts. If that makes sense.

I go through probably 2 or three boxes a day. I break two right when I wake up. I’ll probably use 8 to 10 during workouts then maybe before big meals later in the day. I like to keep myself on my toes so I will wait until I am about to fall asleep then crush one and scare the shit out of myself. They lose their effectiveness after a little while but chewing on them still seems to work.

LMAO

I love them too. Not that much though.

I huffed nose torque for a few seconds one time… like cupped my hand and huffed… way stronger than caps. Felt like I shot myself in the face
