Nope. I even called my mother to ask if she remembers him, but she didn’t either. I was in Crane around 73-75, Grandfalls around 76-78, Winters from like 80-88.
And calling a football coach a shitty golfer is not a very good way to narrow down who you are talking about.

He was at GF in the mid to late 90’s, about 20 years after you were there.
Why is it that basketball coaches are far superior golfers than fottball coaches?
Saw Friday Night Lights today. It was maybe the best football movie ever, but I was still a bit disappointed because I’m such a fan of the book.
They also changed a couple of things that irritated me. Permian got beat by Carter in the semifinals in real life, not the finals, and the game was played at UT, not the Astrodome. I also think they got the score wrong. The film makes Odessa (a town of about 100,000 people) look like a town of 3000. I really wish they would have focused a bit more on Ivy and Chavez.
Great football movie, doesn’t do the book justice.
I just got back from seeing it this afternoon. I agree - they make Odessa look like a widespot in the road. You wouldn’t know it from the movie, but there’s like 250,000 people in the ‘Petro-Plex’.
