Sly Stallone as... the Punisher?

Ideal X-man movie cast would include:

Pam Grier as Storm

Jack Nicholson as Wolverine (go back in time to when Jack was thirty, put him through 4 years of intense weight training, with a few steroid cycles to bulk him up.

Keep Patrick Stewart as Prof. X

Christian Bale as Cyclops[/quote]

I never considered Pam Grier. My choice for Storm was always Angela Bassett.

Anyone else think Cyclops was just totally underused in X-men? I mean, I know there were a kajillion (accurate count) characters in that movie, but he was one of the CORE dudes…

The WOlverine/Sabretooth prequel dealie looks promising.

In other thread Otep referred to the actor who played Cyclops as a “dick cheese” which is an accurate description of that guy. If they’re going to do something with a character, they have to get a descent actor to play him.

James Marsden has been pretty forgettable in just about everything he’s been in. I find it funny that he left X3 to be the other guy in Superman Returns.

I always thought he was a dick in the comic books.

Whoah, Angella Basset as Storm would have been a good call. In the comics Storm always conveyed a sense of leadership, or power, but Halley Berry just didn’t have any of that.

+1. Cyclops is an asswipe.

Of course he was under used the public wants to see wolverine. In my opinion the entire x men series sucked but the Punisher looks promising because hes actually killing a lot of bad guys the first one was just a revenge story which I didn’ like because it did not capture the punishers character.

Hell he pretty much did just that in Wolf. Minus the weight training.

Pretty interesting movie actually, the basic plot is what happens when your average old corporate wimp gets a huge surge of test.

Yes, but for the sake of argument, the main focus of each character is not that they were Vietnam vets, it’s that the former is a secret agent and the latter is a billionaire savant with a penchant for superpowered suits of armor.

Whereas pretty much any Punisher book references Frank’s experiences in Vietnam extensively and many use it as a plot point. It’s an integral part of his origin story. It’s like Batman not losing his parents or the Green Lantern deriving his powers from the Spirit of Christmas: it’s silly and it doesn’t work, because that’s the character and setting everyone recognizes.

I’m sure at some point they’ll reinvent the character’s origin with a more “contemporary” slant, but frankly I’m not looking forward to it.

Long story short, it looks like it’ll be an enjoyable contemporary action movie, somewhat related to the Punisher. That’s fine.
