Slowly but Surely

Benched 345 today, 5 pound PR! Also I only planned to do 340, but 340 felt easy so I went for it.

Will OHP 165 or 170 on Saturday. Squat is also improving, both form and strength. Deadlift pretty much stickin around where it is because I’m focusing much more on squat right now.

Bodyweight 179 this morning. Want to bench 350, squat 405 and OHP 175 before I start thinking about leaning out.

OHP - 165 today, 5 pound PR, nice. Also it was actually pretty easy so I tried 170 and juuuust didn’t get it, so close. I feel like if I hadn’t tried 165 first I could’ve gotten it. Oh well, a PR is a PR.

Squatted 385 this morning. That ties my PR, it was a better rep than when I did it before, and last time I was about 10 pounds heavier. Hooray

Deadlifts today, really wasn’t feeling it but I wanted to go for a max and I still got 515 even though I’ve been focusing on my squat much more lately. Pretty happy with that, next time I’m really feeling good for deads I’ll probably try 525, which will be a PR.

Also, probably have about 6 more weeks of this slow weight gain, in which I plan to gain about 2-3 more pounds, then I’ll start making my diet more strict/adding in a little bit of cardio. I want the 350 bench and the 175 OHP in that time, 405 squat I’m not as sure of but I shall do my best.

Benched 290x6 today (PR), will try 350 next time. Still weighing 179. Something bothering me in my back, may need to take it easy on the squatting for a workout or two, we’ll see.

Tried to bench 350, did not get it, boo. Working my way up I did 320 which was pretty easy, then jumped right up to 350, stalled a couple inches off the chest. I think the jump was psychologically too big from 320-350. Will try again in about 3 weeks but I’ll do 320, 335, 350. Also I’ve been slacking on my eating lately. 4-5 weeks of eating more, in which time I shall bench 350 and OHP 175, and then I’ll worry about leaning out. However, in the last 2 months or so I’ve stayed at the same weight while making noticeable muscle gains, so that’s pretty sweet.

Overhead pressed 170 today, 5 pound pr!

Also, decided to clean up my diet a bit, because I’ve been doing a lot of snacking/eating some crap lately, don’t think it’s helping me gain muscle or strength. So I won’t really be “dieting” per say yet, but I’ll probably begin slowly dropping some weight just due to eating less junk. Weight at the beginning of this week: 181 (actually 183 the morning after I feasted, but that went down to 181 the next day just from eating normally).

What a sexy beast lol. How long have you been lifting for?

Haha well thanks. I’m 24 and have been lifting pretty consistently since high school, so a good while, but I like to think my diet and training improves each year.

Thanks for stopping by!

Failed at benching 350 again, don’t know if that’s gonna be in the cards for me right now as I’m gonna be leaning out a bit. However, after failing 350, I did a few singles of 335, then did 315x3, which is a big ol PR. Then I OHP’d 135x9, which is also a PR. So pretty good day, even after failing.

My gym had a deadlift competition, and I won! Got two free months on my membership. I didn’t find out til the day of, and I had deadlifted the day before, so I didn’t want to really pull an actual max or I figured I’d hurt myself, AND sumo wasn’t allowed, had to do conventional, which I haven’t done in over a year, still got a not too hard 500 before calling it quits. It was based on pounds above your bodyweight, and I weighed in at 176. I actually won by a lot lol which tells you how commercial my gym is. We had to pull off mats so as to not make too much noise. Oh well, I’ll take it!

Oh my goodness bro!!! That is amazing work and I am very proud of you.

You’re so mysterious lol

Thanks man

Back to about the leanest I’ve ever been (so pretty similar to profile pic) and just a couple pounds heavier, but looking better especially in the arms and shoulders I believe. Will keep losing some more weight because it’s actually been pretty easy so far. I’ve done cardio three times and haven’t had to go as low in calories. I believe this is for two reasons:

  1. Didn’t gain much fat in the ‘offseason’ or whatever you wanna call it. I’ve only had to lose about ten pounds so far.

  2. I’m just way too busy to think about snacking and such. Wednesday this week I was up and going at 5:45, got home at 9:30 and went to bed. If I’m hungry I can’t really think about it anyway because I have things to do, I just plan what I’m going to eat, prepare it, and that’s all I have time to eat. Obviously can’t get to the gym on days like that but I’m still getting there 5 times/week.

Probably pics, and 2x bodyweight bench, coming soon.

Scratch that 2x BW bench thing lol I hurt my wrist and missed a couple bench workouts, while losing weight, really put a damper on my bench strength… don’t think it’ll happen in the near future.
