Made a much needed return to the gym. Me & kiddo did a bunch of stuff. It was fun to blow the dust off.
Only things I’ll remark on was a set of 3 dips, and a set of 2.5 dips.
The goal is now 10 dips. Thats a nice round number.
Did a shit ton of goblet squats with a medicine ball, and torsional things like a buddy drill where you sit back to back and pass the medicine ball to eachother.
The goblet squats were the same. We just did those to failure because they’re like calisthenics.
On the wife- all of the prep work (subclavian catheter, enteral port, etc.) went good. She’s a little sore from having her abdomen opened up but healing well.
Radiation was yesterday. Chemo & radiation today. All systems go. I’m not quite beside myself with fear and grief yet, cuz I have one IRL therapist that is an angel, and several more here. Thank you.

I love that you’re doing this with him. It’s so good for both of you - him because you’re a good teacher, and you because this allows you to gauge your performance on heart stuff (love stuff) rather than in competition with your former self. It’s good medicine for everyone.
I’m praying for your wife. I guess Mickey was right about women weakening legs, but on the other hand so do men and kids and dogs and cats if you love them enough.

Kiddo did good. He and I both were mentally exhausted. I’m hoping to convey to him the ability to just shut out the noise & confusion and focus on the task at hand/moment, but sometimes the noise wins. Even with a pro like me.

+20 (each side) 10 reps
+35 5 reps (fast)

Then a bunch of assistance stuff, triceps, ohp, various rows & curls.
Kiddo worked pretty good too. Kinda let him do what ever he wanted after warm up and I gave advice as needed. He gravitates toward pulling/posterior type stuff. I don’t think he’s aware of beach muscles yet.
