Never thought of pairing tuna with pinapple! gotta give that a try!
I like it some tart/tangy with my tuna. Diced and spiced tomato is awesome with it too. A little basil, a splash of white wine vinegarette.
Flavors are like colors for your tongue.
Quick bang anxiety driven work out-
5 Super sets of 1 arm curl and overhead press for 15 reps, no rest between sets.
Sometimes quick and dirty hits the spot. This was one of those times.
@EmilyQ Have a nice trip. Figured I’d put that here instead of other more contentious places/threads.
Thanks! I’m super excited!
On another note, and not to harp on you, but I started Listening to the One Minute Workout again (on Audible) and I want to encourage you again to consider picking it up, but I would suggest that you also do it on Audible, because the guy is a great reader - maybe the best I’ve encountered to date. Though to be fair I haven’t listened to that many - I started a free trial after hearing him interviewed, then listened to maybe 3 more books before dropping the subscription (you keep the books).
Anyway, this guy has been working on this stuff for years, but seems not to have dimmed in the slightest in terms of enthusiasm. When he reports an interesting finding, you can hear the excitement in his voice. “The results were astonishing!” And he actually sounds astonished. So then I feel astonished.
I promise you’d like listening to him talk about intervals, and eventually, like me, develop a small crush on his cheerful, exercise-loving voice.
I’ve been in the exercise game for a long time, worked in gyms at one point, and I’m a big consumer of information, but this book has vastly expanded my understanding. I’m really glad you motivated me to reread (re-listen) it, because I tend to cite the info at work a lot and I prefer not to sound like I only vaguely remember what I’m talking about, lol.
Past couple of days have just been a couple of hrs. on the airdyne to pass the time.
Tonight:
Music: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kql6ccWJAXqk3vEPAQyEjVjnQWzSCPm24
Airdyne:
Warm up-
5 min. @45 rpm
5 min. @50 rpm
5 min. @60 rpm
Straight into intervals: one interval is
[1:30 @ 45 rpm + 30 sec. @70+ rpm] X 5
5 min. cool down and hydrate. Those intervals got me heated up.
Then: EZ bar curls, 3 sets of 10 @ 75 lbs.
Overhead press: 4 sets of 10 @ 75 lbs.
Bent over rows: 15 reps @ 75 (needed more weight)
4 sets of 10 @ 95 lbs.
It all felt good. Really wanted to fail on that last set of ohp, just had to stay cool, breath a little and push.
Edit: Technical notes- All reps done for junk volume in the don’t know shit range. No growth, not getting bigger or strongrrrrr!

Looks like a strip steak, no?
Yeah! They were on sale but bone in. I deboned and trimmed it a little, then 2&2 under the broiler.
Tonight went better than planned.
0-20 min. Started at 45 rpm, drifted up to 55 over the course of time.
5 min @ 60+ rpm.
10 min. @ 55
I was only planning on a so-so ride because I started a new med. on Monday. I did that because for quite a while now I’ve had some pains in my chest that were generally bothersome. Like an ice pic going diagonally to the righ from my sternum, and some milder intermittent tightness through the right rib cage. Never thought much about it other than that it goes with the territory. Then over the weekend I started to get some legit symptoms of pulmonary edema- difficulty breathing, quick weight increase (+6 lbs in 2 days). Called doc, and he prescribed isosorbide.
Wierd stuff, this isosorbide. It’s a nitrate class of drug that blows open all of your smooth muscle (veins & arteries) by increasing nitrous oxide levels. So, I’m pumped. Permanently. Not actually, but as custardy as I am at this point I have over all vascularity just below the surface which then becomes pronounced very easily.
It has relieved the chest pain, but came with a tremendous head ache that has subsided over the past 3 days.
Anyhoo I wasn’t sure what to expect. Honestly, this is some scary shit. So drifting up into a good working range with ease and putting in a few minutes at what has been my upper end of performance is all kinds of emotional stuff that I don’t have good words for.
Glad you’re alright. If it’s your first time taking isosorbide, from what I know the side effects like headache tend to be less pronounced as you get used to the drug. Let’s just hope you’re not an unlucky one.
I think I’ll be ok with it. Day 1 (Monday) was like thunder inside of my skull. Yesterday was much more mild. Today was hardly noticeable.
The nurse didn’t exactly warn me but she seemed very sheepish as she was giving me instructions, and made it very clear that I should call back to let them know how it was “tolerated”.
Haha. It’s prescribed left and right for patients with angina (chest pain caused by the heart not getting enough oxygen) though, so effects and side effects are well known.
And please don’t forget that you shouldn’t take viagra or any of the sort while on isosorbide. It could literally kill you
Yeah! I read about that interaction. Fortunately there hasn’t been any need for viagra and the like. In fact, that has actually ramped up a good bit in the past few months.
Hell of a way to go though! “Yeah! Wait… Whoa…” Thump!
Breakfast for a couple of days:
Red raspberries, blackberries, about a cup of almonds and a squirt of Aunt Jemima. Edit- oh yeah, and oatmeal. ![]()
Will probably throw in a few chocolate or butterscotch chips as I reheat and eat.
I’m glad you’re ok. You should use real maple syrup. That may be the cause of all of this trouble. Have you considered that?
I had not.
What is worse though, using fake syrup or ruining real maple syrup with these?
Also, how’s Europe? I’ve heard they talk funny over there, but if you raise your voice and gesture wildly at them they smarten up a little.
We were always smart, we just pretend to piss off the tourists.
WHERE IS THE BIG TOWER!?!
LIKE THIS ONE-> (big hand movements at picture) ![]()
Today’s entry:
About 75 min. this morning/noonish just cruising lazy like (30 rpm or so) and banged out sets of 10 push-ups just every so often.
Circuit:
[10 db. curls @ 20 lbs. + 10 RDL. @ 100 lbs. + 5 min. airdyne @ 45 rpm.] X 5
Felt good and fresh. Everything feels light. I’m digging the higher rep stuff. I think that the breakfast mix has something to do with that too. A lot of energy in that purple glop.
