Nice offer I’m a bit occupied at the moment with my research assistant jobs- still broke though
This. Safest option. She’ll be bored at some point if she’s not into working out, but it’s the safest.
Or…
Just invite @anna_5588 to your home. Totally sketchy for Anna though lol
ONLY 1300mg??? How do you survive!!!
You’re probably not planning on visiting China anytime soon
I can have up to 2000 mg. per day, but between choices and making my own stuff, that usually isn’t necessary. Any less and I can tell I’m a little low. Any more, like above 16-1800 and I feel a little puffy.
I don’t eat fast food at all anymore and preview menus as available prior to going somewhere.
On a given day I can have either- most of a Big Mac or 3 egg soft tacos with sautéed peppers, tomato, etc. Unlimited fruits and vegetables, any type of carbs (oats, rice, barley) throw in some chips for supplemental sodium, any type of meat as long as I account for quantity/content…
I do go a little crazy on the cashews.
It’s not bad.
I’d probably just turn red and pop within a couple of days in China. But a glorious couple of days it would be!
On training/conditioning-
I’m absolutely beat today. Metabolism must have gone ballistic last night because I was blasting heat all night, trying to stay cool/sleep uncovered next to a window.
And that’s on the cardiac stack of blood thinners, etc.
And while I’m at it- I hate Lasix (furosemide). That stuff is misery in a tablet.
Oh, I see. So you Do want me to die!
Just not in some lame barely noticeable way.
“South Hills man sadistically murdered by angry wife… Police are investigating but currently have no suspects.”.
I see this isn’t really feasible- I’ll bother @ActivitiesGuy instead
Yeah, I’m sorry. My enthusiasm outpaced my everything else.
As the other guys have pointed out, there is no great way to present a 1 on 1 meet up like that. Maybe if it were as part of a group activity- Wife has already met BG, and has seen vid/heard explanation of AG. We even randomly ran into Stu at an event a few years ago, and I’ve gone to meet up with Chushin before too.
Honestly, she’s very suspicious of all things web, and thinks it’s very strange that I’m willing to go meet/hang out with people (strangers!) “from the internet”.
My wife and I stalked down @flipcollar at The Arnlod Expo in Ohio. She’s like
“so how do you know this guy again?”
“I don’t really. He did strongman comps that’s about all I know.”
Lol
it’s the funniest thing to try to explain, isn’t it? We’re all weird.
I love meeting people from here. I know a handful of posters on here who live in Tennessee who I communicate with regularly on other social media, and have for 5+ years. At some point I’ll meet those folks in person.
For me there’s no gym commeraderie like I had in HS being on a team. I lift in my basement alone most of the time. I BS with you guys. I think grown men who lift weights as a hobby are all a little different.
Got a late afternooner in, nothing special. Just cruising at an easy (35-45 rpm) pace for about 40 minutes.
It just wasn’t there. Couldn’t get past the warmup pace. More motivation that anything physical I think.
Wife rolled me out with a rolling pin last night. Yeah, that sounds wierd, but it works pretty good!
It’s something I’ve been doing for years, and it really gets the calves, ITB, and spinal erectors loosened up. Like foam rolling or a street hockey ball except someone else is doing it.
I grew up in memphis!
I’m waiting for that moment. I feel like I have a better community here than in my HS
You’re so lucky- another reason not to piss her off
@dagill2 what’s that emoji with the laugh+tears called?
I have never in my life used an emoji. I barely use my real face to express emotions.
I skipped logging for a couple days, so here’s some update, messing around, etc.
Saturday- Felt good. Went out to clean up a log/firewood pile that got interrupted a while back. Ended up rearranging the seating (big logs), and various other odd ends. Kiddo is a wood piling machine! Ended up with this:
Sunday: Went over and met up with @ActivitiesGuy. He’s a very good guy. The vids don’t do him justice. I’m rather diminutive in general at 5’9" and 175. He’s a big strong fella. He also gave me a nice weight set that has some good history to it already, and much more to come. We talked, laughed, and it was a really good time. I really liked stopping by and look forward to doing it again some time.
A few hrs. later, cut the grass for probably the last time of the year. Relatively unremarkable except that it’s just one big stupid hill. So about 20 Laps up and down. But the lines are nice and straight and I like that.
Tonight’s stuff:
Airdyne:
Warm up 5 min. @ 40+
5 min. @ 50+
2.8 mi. total. Heart rate @ 120
Goblet squats:
20 lbs. for sets of 20, 5 sets 3 min. rest between sets.
100 reps total, hr. @120-130.
These felt good tonight. A few things have loosened up, no problems going low or popping back up. A little dizzy a few times, but people pay good money to feel like that and I get it for free.
One arm curl/shoulder press super set: 5 sets of 12 reps at 20 lbs. 3 min. rest between sets.
All good here too. Up 2 reps per set.
Lateral delts, 3 sets of 10, slow on the way down cuz I wanna look like a man some day! Just wanted to make 'em burn! It worked.
If I have to stay in the higher rep ranges I wanna look good doing it. Eventually. We’ ll see.
On a different note: I entered into the screening process for a new (in the US) procedure that may help to reduce mitral valve regurgitation by banding and changing its shape. The nurse called today and informed me that I’m not a candidate for the study because although the mvr is moderate, my left ventricular ejection fraction is too good in the 55-60% range, and that was taken very shortly after the heart attack.
So that’s nice. Kinda.
Just catching up. Glad to see you’re putting in steady work. My dad had a heart attack, and quit smoking for 20 years, but never ate properly or exercised as his health further declined. 20 years later, he picked smoking back up for 6 months and the next heart attack killed him. Sorry for the depressing story, but I hope you’ll take the message as it was intended - you are absolutely young enough to fix your problems and live a long life. Don’t stop progressing just because you feel a bit better, and don’t ever start smoking again, please.
And now a more lighthearted story that I was reminded of while laughing my ass off at the idea of you running a meet-up with a college freshman girl on the internet with your wife. My wife and I now (recently) work on opposite days and so when I have to cover overtime days, we need a babysitter. Well, my first overtime stretch of 2 weeks straight came IMMEDIATELY after starting my new job (wonder how they could have neglected to mention that to me, hmm…), and we had to scramble to find a babysitter. Thankfully, it’s 2019 and they have an app for that. Care.com. So I go on and message the first two babysitters I can find with 5 stars and lots of positive reviews from families. Later that night, my wife asks me if I’ve messaged any babysitters. I tell her yes, two of them, waiting on a response. My wife pulls out my laptop and goes looking to see who I’ve messaged. I made the grave mistake of not looking at their photos. My wife calls me in to the living room with a seriously pissed off look on her face, and turns the laptop around to face me. Two separate browser windows are open, side-by-side, of the two babysitters I’ve messaged.
Good. Lord.
My wife is hot - seriously, I’m a lucky guy - but these babysitters are fucking smoke shows. Dimes. 11/10 on a bad day. They put the babysitters in babysitter porn movies to shame. And they’re both under 25.
I tried in vain to explain to her that I really hadn’t looked at their pictures or chosen them based off of that at all, but she wasn’t hearing any of that. She went off about them being too young and too pretty, and in my panic I said, “I didn’t know they were hot!”
“SO NOW YOU THINK THEY’RE HOT?”
I gave up, gave her all the information to the account, and told her to handle it. Too risky. I played the whole thing like an amateur, but honestly, it was a totally unintentional and hilarious mistake.
I don’t have kids yet, but it’s never too early to find a good sitter.
Thank you for sharing that. I appreciate the candor on what can be some really difficult subject matter. It’s sad that it goes like that, but apparently that happens a lot. I was actually blown away by a few of the frequent flyers that were in the rehab program. Numerous stents and bypasses, no plans on changing anything.
I’ve actually reverted back to my old way of eating. Simple ingredients, prepared at home. Mindful of sodium, healthy fats, and good protein content. I’ve virtually eliminated breads, box food, lunch meats and fast foods. I like eating better, and I really like removing the cognitive dissonance that went with knowing better but not doing better, mainly for the sake of ease and convenience.
So, she admitted that she thinks the babysitters are hot!
SO MUCH WIIIIIIINNNNNNNN!
Just needed a quick hit, so I’ll call it a feeder work out.
Airdyne:
5 min. @ 45 rpm.
5 min. @ 50+ rpm.
5 min. @ 60+
5 min. @ 55+
2 min. arms only to cool down.
5.7 miles total.
I get nutty sometimes and these little bursts really help.
