@ChickenLittle Heyyyyyy! If I hold it like this I got a neck/shoulder vein!
Doh! Stupid camphone, doesn’t do either well.
Just kidding a little and playing with the camera today. ![]()

You’ve obviously never seen me run
Ok, but I bet you’re a great sled rider.
I’m pretty sure running is not for everybody. I know @EmilyQ loves it and probably moves like a gazelle. But even at my best and lightest I still felt heavy on my feet.
Jumping rope, which I’ve been at for a few months now, and off and on for a few years, feels like I’m bungeed to the ground.
Jumping rope for me is basically just a socially acceptable form of self flagellation. I have the coordination of a damp teabag
Well put ![]()
Nothing special. I just like the silhouette. Except the middle section. Those little lumps can screw off.
I liked smoking then cooking NY strips, so I figured I’d try the same with a chuck roast.

Then chuck (haha) it into the crock pot with some lightly browned onions and bone broth.
We’ll find out in a couple hours if that was a good idea or not.

So today is my one year anniversary of waking up after my heart attack.
This is in celebration of life and my loved ones.
Set number God only knows of rope, #6 of deads, and threw in the front squats just to keep things interesting. And yeah, I know, I need more weight on the bar and less around the middle. ![]()
Happy anniversary! To more years of borrowed time ahead!
Sweet choice of music too!
Haven’t posted much at all lately. Lifting and working out in general has been catch as catch can because I jumped in with my old buddy and tree crew.
Started working on his yard and stuff pretty casually about 5 weeks ago. Got that shaped up nicely and my self in the process, then began doing some repairs on the trucks and equipment. Through it all I’ve been steadily ramping up the time and intensity of the work and the temperature has been climbing steadily along with it. It has been tough, and I’ve washed out a few times due to the heat, but it’s coming along.
My activity level has increased a great deal, and I’m becoming much more durable. Finished out the week yesterday with like 30 some hrs. I’m starting to lean out a little too. After rehydration like a motherfu last night and a big breakfast (2 large eggs, 1 toast, 1 good sized potato, 2 cups of coffee) I’m sitting at 178 lbs, which is 2-3 down from where I was weighing in at a few weeks ago (empty). I would have weighed in empty but there was no way to not get some food in quickly when I woke up.
Conditioning and recovery from the heat/exertion is interesting.
Good to read. My husband has been furloughed since March 24th, and has spent the time building random walls in the basement along with a truly artisan barn-style door, doing finishing work in the kitchen, and finally, as the weather warmed, working to clear a field on 165 acres he has nearby. All of it, but mostly the 3 or so days a week outside taking down and moving trees (he has an excavator and tractor, but as you know, the equipment needs help) has left him looking better than I think I’ve ever seen him look. Just sun-kissed and fit.
He’s always been there working when he could, but his job has him traveling and working on research equipment, so a lot of bad food and poor sleep combined with endless sitting in airports and in cars and planes.
Outside work for the win. I’m glad you’re building back up!
Now this part cracks me up! ![]()
My wife just said something similar! Along the lines of “You’re starting to look good again.”.![]()
She has seen a pretty wide range of conditions. There is a lot of good that comes with outside stuff and really agrees with some people.
Thank you! ![]()
The past week:
Last week was tough but good. By the end of it I was pretty beat, and felt like I got hit by a truck. Didn’t think much of it except that I was coughing a good bit, splitting head ache and over-all body aches. I thought it may have been from dust, diesel exhaust, heat etc. but by Monday it got ugly with some blood. After some calls, a telemed appointment, and some x-rays, bloods, CT scan, I have some kind of viral pneumonia. I don’t have the aches as much but I’m just weak, and have a shredded feeling in my throat and bronchi. Waiting on the results of a nasal swab. They should be in by later today, maybe tomorrow, who knows?
The upside, doc said that aside from that my bloods were Phenomenal, Great, Literally The Best He Has Ever Seen. I mean, he was really very happy with that.
Sometimes I don’t know what to make of these things other than to take them at face value, have some gratitude for my state, and just enjoy it. ![]()
So, what ever it may be, I’m on the mend. Still weak as shit though.
Did some cursory stretching and mobility stuff, warmed up with some SLDL, then started into some front squats.
Totally gassed after 6 reps of warm up weight.
I’m going to just chill for a few days. My wife would legitimately kill me if she knew I did even that this morning. She has been extremely upset with all of this, and I’m just trying to distract and delude myself to avoid considering how bad it could have been/not out of the woods yet.
How’s it going, Skyz?
I’m still on my workout “break,” but beginning to feel uneasy about it/me.
Just got a little reminder that I haven’t posted in my log much.
So I’m feeling pretty good. All of the chest/breathing symptoms have cleared up, and I’ve been hitting it hard at work. I’m going to have to do better at prepping food, because the vast majority of stuff available on the go is just salty garbage.
My lifting lately has been pretty decent when the energy is there. Hitting 10 sets of 3 on C&J, front squats, and some nice pumpy stuff for the guns, rows, etc.
Pretty good. We were posting simultaneously. ![]()
It will come back.
How have you been?
Saturday morning breakfast:
Pork rib, baked potato and pan sauce/gravy with a side of sautéed Vidalia onion. The kicker is a squeeze of a quarter lemon to deglaze the pan for the onion. I love that so much. It makes me giddy.
I guess with all the problems the forum Was having I missed out on your log. Just getting caught up. Happy to here you are feeling better!
Did you end up having the ‘Rona?
