I might, also.
I ended up not doing it. Today has been for rest and replenishment.
Salmon with portabellas and mashed taters:
Sometimes I get a little carried away with the portion sizing. Especially when it’s really good.
Today I went at a casual but sustainable pace of 45-50ish for a full hour just to see how it went and felt. Made it 13.4 miles. It felt pretty good. I just wish I had a water bottle or some coffee with me when I did it.
Extrapolating like I usually do is one thing, but sometimes it’s nice to just go the distance. Or time period. Or what ever. I was getting kind of afraid I might be pulling the wool over my own eyes, like "According to my 26 rep max and this formula I can bench 350 lbs.!"
type of stuff.
So next I’m going to test my theory that you can recover from cardio with a glass of water and some potato chips!
Wish me luck!
So I got 30 in one minute. There was easily another 10 or so in me, so I might have to try again and just go for broke instead of a number for time.
For the record:
This actually worked very well. Incredibly simple fundamental recovery. Replaced calories, fluid and electrolytes (low sodium chips + water) and waited a few hrs.

Well, the potato did save Europe and Russia…
Also gave McDonald’s Fries. Not sure about the impact of that in the US though ![]()
I really do (did?) like McDonald’s fries too. It’s one of those acclimation things though. I’ve only had a couple of nuggets on 2 separate occasions since June, so now even from a few hundred yards away fast food restaurants smell like rancid fry oil and rotting garbage.
This is THE worst! There is a mom and pop place here in town that’s been there for years, and I can’t even stand to go to the drive up window. It’s caught on fire a couple of times and the fire dept gets there to save it every damn time. There has to be enough rancid grease soaked into dirt under and around it, that when we are all dead and gone some scientists are going to find it and think it’s Texas’s version of the La Brea tar pits.
The main 2 things that will get a place on my “never again” list are rancid fry oil and using like Oscar Meyer type bologna on an Italian hoagie.
Which reminds me of yet a few more things I’ll never eat again. ![]()
Just kidding about the
.
We all know you still died a little inside
In all seriousness though, I still think you can have some of those things once in a blue moon
Maybe. I’ve been very tight with sodium consumption. I might have gone over my 2000 mg. limit 2 or 3 times in the first few months, but I usually hit about 12-1300 regularly, 8-900 on lower days, and 17-1800 on an odd high day.
One Italian hoagie probably has about 4 to 5 days worth in it.
One from here:
Immeasurable.
You Makin fun of my flappy chipped ham heart?
J/k.
I was about to call my sponsor today at the grocery store. Standing in front of the bacon going “hmm. 560 mg. per piece…”
Anyhoo- tonight was a late one and I needed to get one in.
So I did
(5 min. on bike @45-50 rpm. Stop clock, jump off and crank out 20 push ups. Jump back on and get cranking, start clock) X 5.
Ended up with 8.5 miles ridden in 32 min. including cool down and 100 push ups. Didn’t take more than 40 min. total and felt great. ![]()
I guess you have room for two pieces of bacon then. ![]()
<— just slap it over that white part and give it a jolt!
Well, the epoc on that work out has been ridiculous. I only got a few hrs or sleep from just blasting heat and sweat and wanting to eat a cow. I’ve been up since 4:00 and I’m finally starting to cool off and maybe grab a little breakfast.
Got a couple of the usual rides in, no big deal.
Tonight:
3 Giant set with 75 lb. ez curl bar curls (12 reps) and ohp (12 reps) , cross sectional delt raises to failure, then 25 sit ups.
Just trying to squeeze it in under the line of still having worked out today.
I’m going to get you to run a triathlon with me. You’re already biking far enough, now we just need to get you running and swimming. 250-750m swim depending on the race, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run.
My one niece just entered a half marathon down your way at the New Kent Winery( @EmilyQ ) It will be her first one.
Once upon a time my running and swimming was very very good. 27 years ago!
If we do, let’s make it down by the coast where it’s flat.
That’s like a half hour from me! Awesome. Yes, there are a ton of them that are very flat. There’s also a lot of them in PA, I’d make the ride. No going overboard necessary, just finishing would be awesome. I’ll occasionally hound you this year about it. Sorry in advance.
It’s all good. I don’t know how things are going to pan out in the long term, but this year may have a few difficult times coming up, so I can only give an apprehensive “we’ll see”.
