Skinny Bastard No More

Try to rest up Mday. The air out there might do you some good, too.

Hey Mday, hope you recovered enough to have a good vacation.

Well, a good news/bad news kind of thing.

I do have strep throat, but with some antibiotics and some rest things should be back to normal in a few days. Mono would have been tough to deal with…

I will try to update while on vacation in Reno.[/quote]

Why would you do that? I hope you have so much fun that you forget we exist while you’re there.

Back from vacation…

Well, as you can see, I wasn’t able to update while on vacation due to some technical difficulties.

The trip went very well. Reno is a nice place to visit but not somewhere I would ever want to live. Tahoe on the other hand is a mountain paradise.

I finally started to get over my strep throat on Sunday and got three good training sessions in. The gym at the hotel was very nice and included everything I needed to get in my usual workouts. The staff looked at me a little funny when I was doing 450lb rack pulls. I am guessing they don’t see this type of thing very often. The altitude made things a little difficult. Reno is at about 5,000 feet and I could tell the difference.

I will be back at it this weekend and getting geared up for the last ten weeks before my meet in November. Other than my shoulder, no real pains or issues so things should go well…

I hope to catch up with everyone this weekend…

Sounds as if y’all had a lot of fun. Glad you are back, safe and healthy.

Surprised the hotel had a rack. You’re dedicated working out on vacation.

No technical difficulties discerned, but understanding complete! Glad you are back, Mday.

Welcome back!

That is some hotel! I’ve been traveling for business a lot over the last 6 years and have yet to see one with a rack. Best I’ve seen are a few DBs.

Come train with me at almost 10,000 ft altitude, then we’ll have the altitude discussion ;-}

The hotel gym was set-up to handle members in addition to hotel guests. I am guessing they had a fairly large number of members because they had forty pieces of cardio equipment, a studio for group classes, a full line of hammer strength machines, and dbs all the way up to 100lb.

Sounds like my kind of hotel.Welcome back.

I guess I won’t mention the weight room in the branch of my gym chain that is on the third floor of the building (no elevator) …

Well, back again after a few weeks delay…

As we all know life gets in the way sometimes. The last three weeks has included a number of setbacks (sick, vacation, kids starting school, personal issues).

I have gotten several sessions in over the last two weeks but nothing consistent enough. Also, I haven’t gotten the calories I need so progress is slow.

I will be back on track tomorrow morning and the rest of the weekend. I will follow with updates and will catch up on everyone’s log.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Welcome back mate. look forward to reading about your progress toward your comp in November.

Finally getting back into the routine with my training and diet…

I lowered all the weights in my session in order to focus on form and to make sure that I got all the work in. Even with the lower weight, I was out of gas by the end. I am planning on keeping the weight lower for one or two more sessions and then going back up to the program percentages.

A. Squat
150/5, 180/4, 210/2, 210/2, 230/2, 230/2
B. Bench
135/5, 155/4, 185/3, 185/3, 210/2, 210/2, 195/3, 185/4, 155/7
C. DB Flies
35/10, 35/10, 35/10, 40/10, 45/10
D. Squat
135/5, 155/5, 155/5, 185/4, 185/4, 185/4, 185/4
E. Good Mornings
135/5, 135/5, 135/5
F. Abs (Rope Crunches)
150/30, 180/30, 180/30
G. Face Pulls
110/28

It was tough to get into the gym this morning, but I felt a million times better once I was there. Ever since my strep throat, I have just been in a funk. The vacation, kids starting school, and house projects have just thrown me off. The worst part is, when I get in these moods I stop eating and I lose a lot of strength very quickly. In the space of three weeks, I lost about 15 pounds and most of it is from not eating regularly. I know that others have gone through similar periods so it helped to remember what got others out of these ‘holes’.

I am going to really commit this week to eating, lifting, and recovery and see if I can be back on track by next Friday. I have about eight weeks before my comp. I will need to be focused and have a good plan in place.

Reading everyone’s logs helps a lot.

mday

damn mday…You have a lot on the stove. No wonder the funk overtook you!

But it looks as if you have it all in check again and I see a quick return to your progress.

Take care of yourself.Eat,train and get fired up!!Looking forward to you posts.

What counts is you’re back on track. Always remember we do our lifting in addition too our regular lives. Your muscles are rested up for a big push to get ready for the comp. Now go for it.

Good to see you back in the gym, Mday.

I think you will make up the pounds on both the bar and your body pretty quickly – you know the drill, have been there, done that.

And like the bon mot with that meet coming up in eight weeks: nothing focuses the mind like a hanging!

Dude, for coming out of a funk, that’s a Hell of a first day back! I’m looking forward to seeing the progression!

The sacrifices and struggles we must endure! I hear you loud and clear.
